Pogonatherum paniceum belong to the Pgonatherum genus , which is classified in the family Poaceae (Gramineae) . It is grown in many geographical regions including South China, Central China, Southwestern China, Australia and Malaysia. P. paniceum is a major pioneer species widely distributed in rocks, barren hills, exposed ridges and slopes, ridges of field and the bank of the rivers and streams. Most populations of this species are associated with surface of rocks. P. paniceum is a promising new native turfgrass species and ornamental plant for gardens since its attractive appearance that is similar to small bamboo. With many advantages including strong root system, rapid growth and great coverage to ground, P. paniceum plays an important role in soil conservation, ecological side slopes shelter and green. In the present study we estimated the genetic diversity of natural populations of P. paniceum in which distribution in Sichuan Province, Yunnan Province, Chongqing City and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in China by molecule markers technique, and investigated Allelopathy of this resource. The results are as follows.Of the 100 ISSR primers, 14 produced highly reproducible ISSR bands. These primers were carried out on 22 populations sampled from Sichuan Province, Yunnan Province, Chongqing City and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in China High genetic diversity was revealed, 239 discemable DNA fragments were with 227 (94.98%) being polymorphic observed number of alleles (Na), effective number of alleles(Ne), Nei's gene diversity (H) and Shannon information index (I)...
