The study established near infrared reflectance spectroscopy (NIRS) testing models of maize nutritional qualities and silage qualities. Based on the common chemical analysis, a series of NIRS testing models of CP, ADF, NDF and GE of maize and silage maize were also established to analyze the nutritional components of maize and silage maize and their changes during silaging.Ealuotions of quality of silage and coarse fodder of silage maize were exetuted through NIRS, and we established the NIRS testing models of silage quality indexes, i.e. organic acid and ammoniacal nitrogen, by principal component analysis were established. The results indicated that the method of NIRS is more accurate than routine means of combination of organic acid and ammoniacal nitrogen. Predicting evaluations of silage qualities were achieved on dry samples of silage maize through the method of NIRS. NIRS predicting models of Relative Feed Value (RFV) and Grading Index (GI) were established in this study of silage maize, which was more accurate in evalutions compared to results of empirical predicting evaluations that were extensively used in production. Furthermore, NIRS was effective in measurements and classifications of coarse fodder qualities of silage maize, and the detection of coarse fodder qualities of RFV and GI indexes in silage maize had been realized. Results of preferable prediction effects in the comprehensive measurements of nutritional qualities, silage qualities and coarse fodder qualities of silage maize using NIRS in this study presented that NIRS is a fast detecting method in measuring the integrative qualities of silage maize. NIRS has the ability to replace the routine methods because it simplifies the procedures greatly. NIRS is a fast detective way in the measurement of comprehensive qualities of silage maize.
