Some important and meaningful results were discovered in the past years. As lots of effort has been made on spleen-stomach deficiency, and spleen-stomach excess is another important aspect of the syndromes. We choose damp-heat to make further study. It include:1. literature studyIt last three stages for ancient scholars to know about damp-heat syndrome of spleen-stomach. First, base forming stage. In this period of time, T.C.M theory describes the close relation between spleen and damp physiologically and pathologically. Providing a general differential and therapeutic principle. A few diseases had been given treatment methods in detail. This time was a preparation for the follow stages. Secondly, developing stage, during Song, Jin, Yuan dynasty, ancient doctors inherit TCM theory totally from Neijing, Shanghan,m the meantime, they got great experience from clinic. They analysis the relation between spleen-stomach and damp-heat with more attention. And offered particular prescriptions and methods to treat it. Thirdly, complement stage. During Ming, Qing dynasty,serious contagious diseases broke out several times, so lots of doctors put concentration on it. So the knowledge about damp-heat were greatly enriched. The theory was formed then.Modern research shows that patients who is diagnosed as spleen-stomach damp-heat syndrome often with gastric mucous inflammation. And there are also pathologic changes in gastro-intestinal electricity and x-ray. Patients have higher rate of Helicobacter pylori (Hp) infection.2.Clinic study: totally we gather 60 chronic gastritis who were diagnosed as damp-heat syndrome, observed age, pathology, the season when it happen, duration, main symptoms. Conclusions are most of patients aged from 18-40, damp-heat syndrome happened when they suffer from chronic gastritis for about 2 years. The main symptoms are abdominal distension, stomachache, belching with acid regurgitation, poor appetite, and bitter taste in the mouth, yellowish and thick tongue coating. It is almost the same as the conclusion before little difference from the standard made by TCM of Guangzhou University; maybe different diseases cause this. Chief cause is improper diet, it is happened about 32% in the whole group, and the rest of the part is unidentified. Whether, habits (such as smoking drink) are probably a reason for it, more observation about that should do.2.Experiment study: compare to deficiency and normal group, damp-heat group has higher rate of Hp infection, and more severe inflammation in rnucosa. The higher Up-infected, the more severe inflammation in mucosa. Deficiency group has no significant difference from normal group. There is 48.6% was Hp-infected in damp-heat group, 51.4% was Hp (-), Hp (-)group has less mucosa inflammation than Hp (+) group. The result shows that Hp-infection is not a main reason to cause damp-heat syndrome, it probably is a factor that influences the syndrome. Symptoms could not be a reflection of Hp-infection.Damp-heat syndrome has higher secretion in IL-8, TNF-a than deficiency group. This is consistent with pathological change in mucosa. and demonstrate that Hp is an important factor to stimulate IL-8 secretion, TNF-a enhance it. There is no significant difference between deficiency group and normal group in slgA secretion, estimate that other factor influences it.With all results we generalize that Hp-infection is not the main reason in forming damp-heat syndrome, it is only a factor to enhance the symptoms.Study shows Qingzuoanzhong tang is effective to relieve symptoms. Less inflammation in gastric mucous is left. IL-8 in blood decreased after treatment by Qingzhuoanzhong tang. It prove that damp-heat syndrome has accordingly pathological change in mucosa. No apparent result support this prescription could kill Hp.
