Recipe Tangguankang created by Prof. Lidelin who had lots of experience in treating diabetes mellitus (DM) with coronary heart disease (CHD) had been applied in clinic for a long time and had got marked curative effect. The basic therapeutic method was supplementing qi, nourishing yin, activating blood and dissipating phlegm. The thesis overall and deeply summed up traditional and west medicine progress of etiological factor, pathogenesis and therapy on DM with CHD. Through lots of experiment, we researched Tangguankang' s curative effect and mechanism. The method of creating animal model was injecting once streptozotozin (STZ, 50mg/kg) into abdominal cavity to increasing blood sugar and ligating anterior descending branch of coronary artery to resulting in myocardial ischemia. After 6-week treatment, we observed blood sugar, blood-fat, blood insulin, liver starch, myocardial enzyme, free radical, blood flow of nourishing myocardium, heart electric physiology and B cell apoptosis and Fas/FasL protein positive expression. The cardinal methods we adopted were radio-immunity, immunohistochemistry, in situ end-labeling (ISEL) , heart electric physiology technique, light microscope and electron microscope technique. The results showed: (1) The model rats' blood sugar was high, blood fat metabolism was disturbed, insulin was resistive, free radical was eliminated difficultly, cardiac myocytes were injured, cardiac function was damaged, B cell apoptosis was over- expressed; ( 2 ) Tangguankang could lower blood-glucose, blood-fat, increase insulin sensitivity exponent, restrain insulin resistance and improve liver starch content; ( 3 ) Tangguankang could enhance free radical clearance, improve heart function, ameliorate myocardial ischemia; (4) Tangguankang could raise mice blood flow of nourishing myocardium; (5) Tangguankang could restrain B cell apoptosis, accelerate B cell regeneration, reduce Fas/FasL protein positive expression. At the same time, we found that the curative effect of high dosage of Tangguankang was better than positive contrastdistinctly and statistically (P<0.01) .
