Object: The mechanism and method of the neurectomy were explored in the treatment of e allergic rhinitis. The basic on anatomy and theory was provided for treating allergic rhinitis by surgical way. Methods:A team of Rabbits were made sensitization three days after the sphenoidpalatine nerve was cut or sympathetic nerve was cut.The other team of Rabbits were made sensitization before the sphenoidpalatine nerve was cut or sympathetic nerve was cut. Their nasal mucoso were collected for detecting P substance (SP) and calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) by the method of immunohistochemistry. Inferior turbinate was dissected under the microscope in six heads of corpses for the exact sites where the nerves enter the inferior turbinate. Results: The group having sphenoidpalatine nerve cut before being made sensitization had less SP and CGRP than the group having no operations. The group having sympathetic nerve cut before being made sensitization had more SP and CGRP than the group having no operations. In the group having been making sensitization ,SP and CGRP decreased apparently in two weeks after sphenoidpalatine nerve was cut; SP and CGRP had no apparent changes after sympathetic nerve was cut. The trunk of the posterior lateral nasal nerves is marching down betwween the mucosa.and the periosteum and enter the inferior turbinate at the site which is 6-13 mm before of the end of inferior turbinate. The antierethmoid nerve goes to the inferior turbinate 2.0-4.6 mm behind the beginning of the inferior turbinate. Conclusion: SP and CGRP were correlative with the occurring and developing of allergic rhinitis. Selective cut of the posterior lateral nasal nerves under the nasal endoscope is feasible.
