Chemical components and biological activities of Pinus armandii Franch. and Ilexpubescens Hook. et Arn were investigated in this paper. The study on the chemicalconstituents and bioactivities have not been reported before.18 compounds from the pine cones of Pinus armandii Franch. and 24 compounds fromthe roots of Ilex pubescens Hook. et Arn were isolated, respectively. Compounds from Pinusarmandii Franch. were pinusamanditerpenoid A (1), 7-oxo-13β-hydroxyabiet-8(14)-en-18-oicacid (2), sandaracopimaric acid (3), isodextropimaric acid (4), 15-hydroxydehydroabietic acid(5), dehydroabietic acid (6), 12-hydroxyabietic acid (7), 8(14)-podocarpen-13-on-18-oic acid(8), lambertianic acid (9), β-sitosterol (10), daucosterol (11), 1,2-benzendicarboxylic acid bis(3-methylheptyl ester) (12), sucrose (13), glucose (14). Compounds from Ilex pubescensHook. et Arn were ilexpubside A (15), ilexpubside B (16), liriodendrin (17), (-)-olivil (18),oleuropein (19), nuezhenide (20), syringin (21), (+)-cyclo-olivil (22), sinapic aldehyde4-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (23), tortoside A (24), ρ-hydroxy phenlethanol (25), (-)-olivil-4'-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (26), (7S,8R) dehydrodiconiferyl alcohol 4-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (27),(7S,8R) dihydrodehydrodiconiferyl alcohol 4-O-β-D-glucopyrano-side (28), (+)-cyclo-olivil6-O-D-β-glucopyranoside (29), (+)-medioresinol di-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (30), oleoacteo-side (31), oleoside 11-methyl ester (32), (+)-pinoresinol-4,4'-O-bisglucopyranoside (33),2'-(3',4'-dihydroxyphenyl)ethyl-(6"-O-oleoside 11-methyl ester)-β-D-glucopyranoside (34).Among them, compounds 1, 15 and 16 were determined to be new compounds. Compounds2~8 and 12 were first isolated from Pinus armandii Franch. Compounds 17~34 were firstisolated from Ilex pubescens Hook. et Arn.The activities of antitumor, antiinflammation, antioxidant were studied. The acetic estersection of 95% ethanol extract from Pinus armandii Franch. showed antitumor,antiinflammation, antioxidant activity. Two compounds (6 and 7) from the active portionshowed antiinflammation and antioxidant activity. The 30% ethanol extract from Ilexpubescens Hook. et Arn showed antiinflammation and antioxidant activity. Four compounds(19,20,31 and 34) from the active portion showed antiinflammation and antioxidant activity.The review on the study of chemical constituents and pharmacological activities havebeen made,and spectral characteristics were summarized. All these work establishedfoundation stone for the scientific research work of Pinus armandii Franch. and Ilexpubescens Hook. et Arn.
