Research ObjectiveThis dissertation is intended to do a pioneering research by means of literature review of theoretical knowledge and modern research development on treating ischemic stroke in traditional Chinese medicine and modern medicine. Based on this, it is believed that Qi deficiency mixed with phlegm stagnation is a main pathogenesis of ischemic stroke. By experiments it is systematically observed how Yiqi Huoxue Huatan therapy affects ischemic stroke at different levels, different points and various stages. It's mechanism is illustrated by molecule biology through observing GLUT-1, ICAM-1 expression changes at different time caused by the therapy at the aspects of cerebral energy metabolism and the state of intercellular adherence. At the same time the experiments reveal the pathogenic essence of Qi deficiency mixed with phlegm stagnation of ischemic stroke. We endeavor to provide scientific theory and experimental evidence for effectively treating ischemic stroke in clinic and developing modern Chinese medicine.Main Research IdeasIschemic cerebral impairment is a dynamic process with various factors, links, ways and points due to its complexity and variety. Having observed and done researches clinically for many years, the supervisor has the opinion: based on deficiency syndrome as the"root", especially Qi deficiency, blood stasis and phlegm stagnation are the results of it. The phlegm stagnation, as the pathological production, will accelerate Qi deficiency in the formation process of ischemic stroke. So, Qi deficiency mixed with phlegm stagnation is thought to be one of the main pathogenic mechanisms of ischemic stroke. Since Chinese medical treatment aims to improve and protect ischemia reperfusion injury at different levels, different ways and different points, this research will be based on the cerebral ischemic energetic metabolism and inflammation reaction as the physiological and pathological characters, the expression of GLUT-1 ,ICAM-1 after cerebral ischemia-reperfusion as the observing point, use animal models with signs and symptoms of simulated Qi-deficiency and phlegm stagnation caused by various factors to observe systematically how Yi Qi Huoxue Huatan formula and modified Er Chen Tang dynamically influenced the expression of GLUT-1, ICAM-1 after cerebral ischemia.
