Objective:To study the effect of Edaravone the levels of cerebra and serum VCAM-1, ICAM-1 in rat with middle cerebral artery ischemia-reperfusion.Methods:Transient middle cerebral artery occlusion(tMCAO)rat models were established by using Longa’S suture insertion.40 male SD rats were randomly divided into 4 Groups:sham operation group,control group, normal group and Edaravone-treated group. The rats of edaravone pretreatment group received intraperitoneal injection of 3ml edaravone evey day before the molding, and the others rats received intraperitoneal injection of 3ml physiological salin evey day before the molding.24 hours later, the brain and serum were collected and their expression of VCAM-1 and ICAM-1 was detected using ELIS A and immunohistochemistry.Results:1.No neurologic impairment was observed in the rats of sham-operated grop and normal group, while NDS of Edaravone-treated group and control group were higher than sham-operated grop and normal group; and NDS of Edaravone treatment group were lower than control group (P<0.05);2.The the expression of cerebra and serum VCAM-1, ICAM-1 was higher in the control group and ED group than sham-operatedad and normal group (P<0.05), while Edaravone treatment group displayed the lower VCAM-1 and ICAM-1 expression than ischemia-reperfusion group at reperfusion 24 hours(P<0.05).Conclusion:Edaravone can reduce the iniury of ischemic brain cells,and it could inhabit the production of ICAM-1 and VCAM-1,interrupting the leukocyte infiltrating ischemic region.
