Background and Purpose: The ischemia stroke is common disease in the neurological area, which is a major cause of morbidity and mortality. The prevention and cure of cerebral ischemia were included platelet aggregation, anti-hypertension, kata-sulfatide, Carotid endoarterectomy; (CEA), Carotid artery transluminal angioplasty and stenting ( CTAS ) and so on, which had been a few achieved, however the measures were not ideal for cerebral stroke , the incidence of cerebral ischemia stroke is still higher at present. For this reason, the basic research about carotid atherosclerotic pathology ,physiology and molecular biology would help furher explore the occurrence ,development, prevention and cure of cerebral infarction. The carotid atherosclerotic disease is one of the common etiological factors in stroke when carotid atherosclerotic plaque may undergo rupture, intraplaque hemorrhage, extensive necrosis, calcification, and subsequent thrombosis. Carotid plaques have a variety of characteristics that distinguish them, most notably as either homogeneous or heterogeneous .In general, symptomatic carotid disease is not a result of inadequate perfusion due to a high degree of stenosis. Rather, patients with symptomatic carotid disease usually have heterogeneous plaques that are the source of shed emboli. The degree of carotid artery stenosis alone may not enable an adequate prediction of which patients will suffer strokes. For the past few years, scientists had focused on the mechanism and intervention of carotid atherosclerotic plaque. The present studys have shown that ATP-binding cassette transporter A1 (ABCA1) may play an important role in the development and behavior of therosclerotic plaques. There is increasing evidence that inflammation plays a central role in the cascade of events that result in the carotid plaque erosion and fissuring, cyclooxygenase 2 (COX-2) and type 1 inducible PGE synthase (mPGES-1) have a role in atherosclerotic formation release leading to plaque rupture. At present it is reported a lot to study ABCAl and COX-2 genes in atherosclerotic disease of the whole body, especially in mutions. however ,up to now , it is not reported about the expression changes and...
