Objective: To investigate the therapeutic effect of decoction "Shen-Fu-Kang" in the physiology, immunology on the BXSB mice, and to explore the mechanism of treatment to LN.Methods: BXSB mice were randomly divided into 4 groups: group A was model;group B was CHM (Chinese herbal medicine);group C was MM (modern medicine), group D was CHM+MM. Serum dsDNA, IL-6, IL-18, TNF-α, IFN-γ were measured by ELISA. ICAM-1, IL-18 expressed in kidney of BXSB lupus mice by immunochemistry, as well as proteinuria , IgG were analysed by directly immunofluorescence.Results:1. The decoction coald significantly reduce the levels of proteinuria and serum dsDNA antibady, IL-6, IL-18, TNF- α, IFN-γ .2. The decoction could significantly decrease IgG in renal glomeruli.3. The decoction could decrease the expression of ICAM-K IL-18 in kidney.Conclusions :Decoction"Shen-Fu-Kang" could protect kidney function by adjustion proteinuria, serum dsDNA antibody , IL-6, IgG and the expression of ICAM-K IL-18. The CHM and MM used in combination was superior to that of alone.
