The neuron death and ischemie brain edema is charcteristic of ischemie brain damage. With the devolopment of cerebral infarct, there is a complaciated relationship between neuron, astrocyte and capillary. With light and electron microscope, Weinvetigated the morphological conseques of neuron, astrocyte and capillary in MACO (middle cerebral artery occlusion) model of rat at interal from 30 mins to 6 days.In the meanwhile, We also studied the changes of Na+-K+ATPase and Ca++-ATPase in the ischemie cortex.Using immunohistochemical techique , a study was conducted to determine wether glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) and basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGf) existed in astrocyte. Calcium overload was also observed with electron microscope. The main results were as follows:1.It was before 6 hour that there was an early damage such as nuclear shrinkage, scalloping, cytoplasmic microvaculation. From 30 mins to 6 hours after MCAO, the size of ischemic damage increased steadly and the border zone between the normal tisse and ischemic tisse was not visible before 6 h after ocllusion.Outside of main area of ischemie damage, there were injured neurons in the surrunding zone at 3h after ocllusion. However, the volume...
