Studies On The Chemical Constituents And Bioactivities Of Medicinal Plant Souliea Vaginata And Piper Hancei

Souliea vaginata (Maxim.) Franch. (Fam. Ranunculaceae) is widely distributed in southwest and northwest of China. As a Chinese folk herb medicine, it possesses anti-inflammatory, antipyretic, analgesic, antioncotic and detoxifying functions and can "invigorate blood circulation". Its rhizome or the whole plant is used to treat cold, rheumatic arthritis, dysentery, sore throat, and headache etc. In order to obtain a more comprehendsive understanding of its effective physiological constituents, in this doctoral dissertation, a systematic photochemical study has been carried out.Forty four compounds were isolated from the ethanol extracts of its rhizome and whole plant native to Gansu province by various column chromatography. On the basis of various modern spectroscopic analysis (IR, UV, ¹HNMR, ¹³CNMR, DEPT, ¹H-¹H COSY, ¹³C-¹H COSY, HMQC, HMBC, TOCSY, HMQC-TOCSY, NOESY, EI-MS, FAB-MS, ESI-MS) and classical chemical methods, forty one of them were determined, of which twelve were new, five were new nature prod- ucts and thirteen were isolated from the plant for the first time.Among the new compounds, there are eleven cycloartane triterpenoid and their saponins, one alkaloid.
