Piper boehmeriaefolium var.tonkinense belongs to genus piper plants. The plant has effects on dispelling wind and cold, stretching bones and muscles, promoting venation, releasing ecchymosis and eliminating bump, alleviating pains.Traditionally it was used to treat stomach cold, menstrual aches and amenia, rheumatic bone-ache,and injuries from falls. It mainly distributes in South China, such as YunNan,HaiNan,GuangXi,GuangDong, FuJian.Firstly, the article summarize chemical constituents and pharmacology activities of genus piper. Then, the article screens antidepressant activity of extracts from Piper boehmeriaefolium var.tonldnense and analysis its componds of active extract, the main studies as follows:During the antidepressant activity screening of Piper boehmeriaefolium vat.tonkinense, we found ethyl acetate extract shows obvious activity, comparative with antidepressant effect of chlorimipramine. However, the extracts obtained by petroleum ether and water have no antidepressant effects. The article research main chemical constituents of methnol extract from Piper boehmeriaefolium var.tonkinense.The result shows that the plant may contain alkaloids, flavonoid, steroids, phenylic acid and tannins, except anthraquione, coumarins, terpenoids. The extract of ethyl acetate is researched, and 5 organic compounds are seperated and pured from extract of ethyl acetate by extract,column-chromatograph on silica gel and recrystallization. They are(2E,4E)-N-isobutyleicosadienamide(EA-Ⅰ),β-sistosterol(EA-Ⅱ), 1,5-diphenyl-penta-1,4-dien-3-one(EA-Ⅲ),Cepharanone B(EA-Ⅳ),N-(2'-hydroxy-ethyl)-N-methyl-3, 4-methylenedioxy-benzamide(EA-Ⅴ).Compound EA-Ⅰis reported from this plant for the first time.N-(2'-hydroxy-ethyl)-N-methyl-3,4-methylenedioxy-benzamide is a new compound.
