| Securidaca inappendiculata Hassk. (polygalaceae) is distributed in tropical regions of Asia included Yunnan, Guangxi, Guangdong and Hainan provinces of China. The roots and stems of the plant were used as anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and antirheumatism agents with names "Chan Yi Teng", "Wu Wei Teng " and "Diu Le Bang" in the south of China. Previous screening studies in our group showed that the crude extract of S. inappendiculata exhibited potent anti-HIV, anti-oxidant and nuropharmacological activities. As a result, the main aim of the present study was to find active compounds from the stems and roots of S. inappendiculata collected from Yunnan province.Phytochemical studies in the present study had led to the isolation of 42 compounds using different chromatographic techniques and subsequently the structures were elucidated by using spectrometric approaches, including IR, UV, 1D and 2D NMR, EI-MS, FAB-MS, ESI-MS~n etc., and classical chemical methods. Of the 41 compounds identified, 11 of them were found to be new compounds, 2 to be new natural products and 16 isolated from this genus for the first time. The new compounds consisted of three xanthones, one benzophenone, five saponins, and two olegansides and named as securixanthone E (Sr06), securixanthone F (Sr11), securixanthone G (Sr13), securibenzophenone B (Sr01), securioside C (Sb10), securioside D (Sb11), securioside E (Sr23), securioside F (Sr24), securioside G (Sr25), (+) syringaresinol 4-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-(1→4) -β-D-glucopyranosyl-4'-O-β-D-gIucopyranoside (Sb04), (+) syringaresinol 4-O-β-D-glucopyranosy-(1→4)-β-D-glucopyranosyl-4'-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-(1→4)-β-D-glucopyranoside (Sb05), respectively, whilst two new natural products were... |
