Hantaan virus, possessing a segmented single-strained RNA genome of negitive polarity belonging to the Hantavirus genus of family Bunyaviridae,is the etiologic agent of the severe form of Hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome that occurs in China. There were different views about the primary pathological changes which were caused directly by the virus or by immune complexes.Heat shock proteins(HSPs) are extremly conserved proteins that are expressed in prokaryotes and eukrayotes .Many HSPs are constitutively expressed and may play an essential role in the folding of nascent synthesized proteins, translocation and assembling in the normal situation. When a cell is subjected to stress,it is thought that HSPs play a similar role in protecting proteins by assisting in the refolding of demaged proteins or facilitating the degradation of proteins demaged beyond repair. So perhaps it was thought that HSPs overexpression constitutes a valid marker for potentially injurious stress. The viral replication in host cells leads not only to the change of cell structure, but interfere with the macromolecular synthesis in the cells. The viral products induce the stress responses in cells by affecting the macromolecular synthesis resulting in the metabolic and functional changes.Previous studies have indicated that there is no uniform pattern of virus-induced HSPs expression...
