In the present study, analytical methods for the determination of azithromycin, erythromycin ethylsuccinate, roxithromycin and raceanisodamine based on charge transfer reactions, and an alaytical method for the determination of four ingredients in tablets of acetylspiramycin (ASPM) by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) using microemulsion as mobile phase, were developed in the present study. These methods are applicable in the analysis of pharmaceutical residues like antibodies in environmental samples as well as in foods. The major results of the present study are listed as below:1) Using 7, 7, 8, 8-Tetracyanoquinodimethane (TCNQ) as a charge receptor, analytical methods based on charge transfer reactions were developed for the determination of azithromycin, erythromycin ethylsuccinate and roxithromycin. The methods bear wide linear ranges; they are simple, accurate, fast and economical in costs. The reaction conditions between these pharmaceuticals and TCNQ were optimized. Using slope ratio and Job's method, the azithromycin-TCNQ, erythromycin ethylsuccinate-TCNQ and roxithromycin-TCNQ complex were found to all have composition ratios of 1:1.2) Using Salicyl fluorone (SAF) as charge receptor, a charge transfer spectrophotometric method for the determination of raceanisodamine has been developed. The reaction condition between raceanisodamine and Salicyl fluorone (SAF) was optimized. The composition of the complex was found to be 2:1 by Yoe-Jone and Job's methods.3) A HPLC method using microemulsion as mobile phase was developed for the determining of four ingredients in tablets of acetylspiramycin (ASPM). This method can be applied to the fast determination of ASPM in milk without sophisticated pretreatments; the eluents for HPLC analysis are environmental friendly chemicals.
