Effects Of Balance Acupuncture Treatment On Head Injury During Acute Period

Craniocerebral trauma(CCT) is a kind of common disease in neurosurgery. It is one of the main cause that lead to mortuus or disability. In the recent years, though some progression was made in remedy of CCT, the result of remedy was not satisfied. It is very important in theory and practice to study CCT. The Balance Acupuncture is the product of traditional Chinese medicine combined with western medicine that can cure about 130 kinds of diseases now. But none has investigate effects of Balance acupuncture on head injury in acute stage.Objective To investigate if there is effect of Balance acupuncture treatment on head injury in acute stage in order to find a new pathway to remedy CCT in acute stage.Methods (1) random control animal experiments. 60 SD rats weighted 280～300g were divided into 3 groups: the group sham operated(SOG), the group injuried not remedied (NRG) and the group remedied by Balance acupuncture(BAG). Except 10 rats Were used for preliminary test, 10 for SOG, 20 for NRG, 20 for BAG. The Fluid-percussion impact in CCT model in rat was applied. To pierce a hole on the left parietal bone by a desk-top drill holding the integrity of dura. A stainless nut was spliced on the site of the hole by cyanoacrylate cohesives. All CCT model were made by impact with midrange pressure(0.2MPa). The SOG was operated only, not to be impacted. (2)the S—100B protein level was determined by ELISA in serum got form artery angularis after injury 3 h and 3 d, respectively.(3) the method of Balance acupuncture treatment: 4 acupoints were applied one time a day for 3 seconds, not keeping needle. Main acupoints were paralysis-acupoint on the same injuried lateral, contralateral lumbage-acupoint, bilateral headache-acupoint and depressurization-acupoint.Terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferease—mediated biotiny hated deoxyuridine triphosphate nick end labelling(TUNEL) was applied to estimated the state ofneuroapoptosissinbrain3 days after injury.Result the S-100B protein is normal in SOG. There was significant difference between SOG and the others 3 hours after injury. There was significant difference between SRG and BAG for 3 days after therapy. There was no apoptosis cell in SOG. There was significant difference between SOG and the others 3 hours after injury. There was significant difference between SRG and BAG for 3 days after treatment in number of apoptosis cell.Conclusion: 1. There is protective effect of balance acupuncture treatment to head injury in acute stage, probably.2. It exsists in maintaining stability of brain cell and reducing apoptosis.3. It is necessary to research deep in clinical application, in choosing acupoints and in contrast study.
