The tourist’passion to ancient town has been increasing with the in-depth integration between culture and tourism. As the master of the ancient town, the cognition and emotional experience of the community residents to the various influential effects produced by the tourism development will directly influence their behaviors to tourism development and attitudes to the tourists. Therefore, the correct understanding of the inherent motivation between cultural town residents’emotion and behaviors to realize the coordination of the man-land relationship is the important scientific problems in the research of the tourism geography, as also the realistic issues that need to be addressed in the community development practices of the ancient tourism. As for this, this article, taking Tongli as the typical case, residents’ emotion as the starting points, the various manifestations of the residents’emotion and behaviors as the basis, empirically analyzes and compares the diversity of emotional dimensions and behavior characteristics influenced by the tourism from the angles of different population characteristics and spaces, reveals the influential factors and formation mechanism as well as regulates and optimizes the residents’emotion and behaviors multi-dimensionally so as to give full play to the residents’roles in the development of the community tourism, to establish a harmonious community environment and subject-object relation, to provide the healthy and sustainable improvement of the culture tourism with theoretical basis and experience references. The thesis composes of five parts. The first part(Chapter one and two) is basic analysis and theoretic exploration, whose main content consists in the origin of topics, study background and significance, research objectives and targets, research ideas and contents, research methods and technology roadmap, the summary of domestic and foreign research, and the theoretical bases and study area. The second part(Chapter three and four) is the empirical analysis, the questionnaire and qualitative interview are the main methods to the research on residents’emotion and behaviors of the cultural town. The third part (Chapter five) is the analysis of mechanism, whose main contents are involved in the clarification of the relationship between residents’ emotion and behaviors, as well as the influential factors, so as to explore the formation mechanism between them. The fourth part(Chapter six) is practical application, attempting to regulate and optimize the residents’emotion and behaviors from the levels of residents’ emotional life space, local elements strengths and emotional balance mechanism construction. The fifth part (Chapter seven) is the conclusion and prospect, on one hand summing up the main study results and fruit, on other hand refining innovation and inadequate research as well as making the further expectation of follow-up research in the future. With the reference of theories of Emotional Geography, Cultural Geography, Tourism Anthropology, Psychology and other related disciplines, the paper follows the research idea of theoretical exploration, empirical analysis, mechanism investigation and practical application, etc., combining to use multiple methods such as literature survey and expert advice, qualitative research and questionnaire survey, mental map and GIS, mathematical statistics and structural equation model, etc.. Through the empirical study and theoretical investigation, the paper summaries the main results as follows.(1)The residents’ emotion of the cultural town contains the positive and negative parts, which correlates each other negatively. In detail, the place attachment, the satisfaction of tourism development, the community attachment and the happiness of life belong to the positive; otherwise, the disgust, the deprivation and the rejection belong to the negative. The average emotional dimensions of the local and migrant residents varies obviously, there has a structural difference between the emotional dimensions of different resident groups. Moreover, age, vocation, salary, culture degree, length of residence and tourism benefits, all of which have a significant impact on emotional dimensions of different resident groups to some extent. The analysis of memory map of the emotional cognition on spatial elements from the residents shows that, the residents’ emotional space not only has a descending character, i.e. markers→node→area→roads→boundary, but also presents a declining common structural pattern from the core scenic area of the town to the around.(2)The behavior intention scale of the cultural town residents mainly contains three parts:the tourism participation behavior, the tourism support behavior and the resources protection. In Tongli, there are significant differences among the behavioral intention of different residents, the intention intensity of tourism participation behavior and the tourism support behavior are all higher than that of the resources protection, besides, age, vocation, salary, culture degree, the length of residence and tourism benefits, all of which have a significant impact on different groups’ behavioral intention to a certain degree. Residents’ different behaviors and different groups’behavioral expression all have a significant distinction. The residents’ main daily leisure activity is entertainment, and they prefer to public leisure space, most of them have the consciousness of evading too many tourists. There are conflicts and contradictions between daily travel behaviors and tourism development. Daily communicative behaviors generally rely on blood relationship and geographical relationship. While as an ancient town tourism community, the communicative behavior which based on occupational relationship is becoming more and more important.(3) The positive and the negative emotions of residents in Tongli have a marked effect on different behavior disposition. Different types of residents’emotions have different effect on behaviors. The emotional cognitive space, which forms in people’s mind by Combining with external factors and internal psychological change can affect the individual decisions and actions. Also, residents’ behaviors can have response on emotions. Combine with each other, we can find that emotion space element, residents-self element, policies systems and the level tourists have been involved in, and also are considered as important factors to residents’ emotions and behaviors.(4) This paper puts forward the countermeasures which can help wake residents’ positive emotions and guide the positive behaviors, such as building residents’ emotion space, strength and taking attention on local cultural, building emotion balance system, government’s macro-lead. In this way, the ancient town tourist destination can have a stabile sustainable development. The innovations of the paper have three aspects. The first aspect is scientifically designing an emotional scale of ancient town tourism destination residents, building cultural ancient town tourism destination residents’ emotion theory model, which enrich and expand the theory of tourism psychology research. The second one is to use the multiple modern technique methods generally, analyze the immanent relationships between residents’ emotions and behaviors, which help provide the scientific basis for their formation mechanisms. The third aspect is to put forward the countermeasures about residents’ emotions and behaviors, which can provide an experience and reference for the effective implementation of the harmonious development of tourism and travel planning.
