QianXuan is a transitional attribute of painter, inheritance the Southern Song Dynasty court painting style and leading the Yuan Dynasty literati freehand brushwork painting style. In Southern Dong dynasty Jing Ding years, he took part in JinShi examinations, but didn’t pass, and also received no official position. After entering the Yuan dynasty, he did not yield to the rulers Yuan Dynasty in the face of the money and rank, but chose to painting as partners to end his whole life, and become to a hermit.QianXuan is one of the “Wu Xing three Jue” and “Wu Xing eight Jun” in the early years of the Yuan Dynasty. His paintings had a great effect at that time, and lead to that many people made his fake paintings for money. QianXuan’s paintings have unique style of cultural attribute, and have a more profound influence to the Yuan Dynasty painting. His landscape painting works “Fu Yu Shan Ju” derived from landscape paintings of Jin Tang Dynasty, but creates fresh and elegant style. Painting techniques have changed from neatness and meticulousness to generalization freehand brushwork, style is Song Ling Cang Run, fresh and elegant, Shui Mo Qing Hua. His flower and bird painting technique is a breakthrough; he used to wash to create a style, which is elegant and Song Ling. His paintings express his inner world, and are his feeling of broken psychology to chaotic era, are his mind and thought.Although Qian Xuan had no system of painting theory and distinct theoretical perspectives, but his art practice clearly shows attribute of writing painting and ancient spirit. There are repeated "write" words in Qian Xuan’s inscribed poems, it is the best performance of writing with calligraphy, which is his fine and neat brush as gossamer and free writing outline. The performance of Qian Xuan’s painting ancient spirit is revival colored green landscape and figure painting of Jin Tang Dynasty, is artistic realm pursuit of Taoism. His painting practice of revival ancient spirit produced huge impact to Zhao MengFu and Yuan Dynasty painting.As literati painter, Qian Xuan further develop the style, which is poem, calligraphy, painting, seal blending in one painting belongs to advocating of literati painting. According to this surviving works, he is rare painting, who artistic creation included inscription, blending with poem and painting, blending with calligraphy and painting, using lyric seal. There are poems in his every painting work, and its place is big difference with Zhao Ji and Zhao MengFu. He insists that poem is a part of painting composition, and embodied echoed relationship between poem and scenery in work. It is huge contribution in development course of the style blending with poem, calligraphy, painting, and seal.Qian Xuan’s academic research is profound; painting style is very unique, fresh and elegant. His painting pushed development course of literati freehand brushwork painting Yuan Dynasty, and he is pioneer of painting new style Yuan Dynasty.
