A Study Of The National Outlook And Religious View In "Happiness Wisdom"

Kutadgu Bilig also known as Happiness and Wisdom, is a poet as an exceptional delegate of Uyghur Classical Literature written by Qocho Uyghur in Karakhanid in the 11th century. It has 13,290 lines which contains 85 main chapters and 3 sub sections. There are four main characters in the book:Kuntogdi(king), Aytoldi(Vizier), Ogdulmis(Saga), and O6gurmis(Dervish). The author expressed his view of point between wisdom and knowledge, legislation and justice, ethic and religion, and mutual relationship among people. Governing philosophy, the idea of religion as well as advice on mutual communication is still rewarding to legal construction and harmony in our society. According to the book, it can be referred that Yusuf Has Hajip was born in the former capital of Karakhanid namely, Balasagun. Yusuf expenenced the most glorious time of this empire, while also unstable. Driven by his profound dream and aspirations, the poem finished his masterpiece in Kashgar between 1069 and 1070 when he was nearly 50 years old. After preserving and revising for several times, he presented the book to the prince of Kashgar,and was rewarded the tile Khass Hajib ((?)), translating as something like "Privy Chamberlain"Happiness and wisdom not only reflects various values of Uyghur people, but also reflects the status quo of the local environment. People learn about this book from different angles,for instance, some do the research through historical background, some from the political background and the author, while some people learn the knowledge in this book from regulars and laws. Some people, particularly, do the research from Uyghur Classical Literature, such as through Uyghur rhythm; some people believe that we can learn much about the religions during the development of Uyghur; there are also others do research on childcare values and family values. The book is widely being studied by different approaches and methods, however, there is not sufficient study on the national concept and religious outlook in the book. Hence, this essay will figure out these concepts and views on them from the book through national theory, which also offers a new way of studying the book. In this way, the author hope to widen the scope of research on the book.This essay consists of three parts:the first part aim to study the social background and main content of Happiness and Wisdom,.including the political, economic, cultural and national backgrounds, as well as Yusufs whole life. The second part of essay mainly researches the national view of the time, which includes ethnic compositions, characteristics of different ethnic groups and also their mutual relationship in their daily life. By studying this, some related suggestions will be carried out. When it comes to the third part, the essay will focus on religious outlook. Religion status will be examined first and then different stages of religious progress in Uyghur development. At last, all these religious outlooks will be analysed and some corresponding advices will be put forward. Based on two different angles, the author aim to break new grounds. Studying Uyghur history, culture and philosophy, it will be of great help to the status quo nowadays.
