Zaiwa language which is used by Zaiwa branch of Jingpo ethnic group is part of Sino-Tibetan language family. Zaiwa language consists of two dialects including Longzhun and Bengwa. As a cross-border ethnic groups, Zaiwa people, which mainly distributed in Mangshi, Yingjiang, Longchuan, Ruili of Yunnan province, is accounted for about 60 percent of total people of Jingpo people, while some Zaiwa people also resident in the areas near by Enmaika and Mailika of Kachin State. This research describes and analyses in detail the Zaiwa pronunciation from a synchronic and a diachronic viewpoint. In the synchronic perspective which mainly describes the phonetic system, consonant, vowel and tone, the paper expounds the phonetic system(such as consonant, vowel, tone) and phonetic aspect of Zaiwa language. In the diachronic perspective, the paper analyses the ontology layer and outer layer of Zaiwa vocabulary, such as the relationship among Zaiwa language, Chinese and Burmese as well as some basic law of language evolution. The paper including five parts as following:In the first part which includes three parts. Firstly, the paper expounds the Jingpo nationality and Zaiwa branch from literature, oral history, ethnic identification, and ethnic distribution and so on. Secondly, the paper reviews the present research situation from two aspects of domestic and foreign. Thirdly, briefly illustrates the modern frontier theory and method such as field investigation, descriptive linguistics, experimental phonetics, morpheme analysis, historical level analysis, and historical comparative linguistics and so on. At the same time, this part also explains briefly the research framework and source of linguistic data.Secondly,the paper describes systematically the phonetic system of Zaiwa language, analyses the consonant, vowel, tone which are urgent to be settled at present research, and endeavors to describe the phonetic phenomena of Zaiwa language by applying Phonological theory such as rhythm and distinguishing feature matrix. Specifically, this part is made up of tone, syllable structure, distinguishing feature matrix of vowels, consonants and tones and tones with the table.Thirdly,The paper tries to analyses the relationships between Zaiwa language and other languages from the perspective of language contact, endeavors to explore the relations between Zaiwa language and adjacent ethnic languages from the framework of a single language and various languages. Specifically, this part consists of the following: the relationships among various languages within a single ethnic group and among Zaiwa language and other adjacent languages.Fourthly,this part distinguishes the pronunciation provided by the third task force of the minority languages survey of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, compares the differences of relative vocabulary and loanwords in Zaiwa language, Chinese and Burmese, as well as the morphology of Zaiwa language.Fifthly,the paper briefly illustrates the above-mentioned viewpoints and research methods and puts forward some confusions and research prospects.There are two appendixes in the back of paper. Appendix 1 is Zaiwa language dialect vocabulary and dialect point as well as Appendix 2 is Zaiwa language tones with the table.The innovation of this study:1.This study analyses for the first time the morpheme segmentation for Zaiwa language using nearly ten thousand vocabularies on the basis of the analysis of synchronic allophones, historical comparison and the historical analytic hierarchy.2.This study first provides a database with nearly ten thousand words of tile language audio.3.This study first makes the Zaiwa Language in dynamic category in the Sino-Tibetan sources of large frame operating history analysis, points out that the loading Zaiwa language make dynamic winding method comes from the s-prefix, and makes a phonetic on the explanation.4.This study for the first time in approximant and voiced fricative under the framework, describing those initials in the system v、? to approximant ?、?.Make the initials of Zaiwa language system more systematic,more can be explained.5.This study absorbs the theory of syllables and the syllables of Zaiwa language analysis of syllables phonology.6.This study for the first time analyses the relationship between Chinese languages from the Zaiwa history of hierarchical analysis, especially in ancient/cognate layer analysis, which has not been did by predecessors.
