The degree of human concern for the disadvantaged groups, in a sense, reflects the process of changes of human civilization. To pass on the value of survival about the disabled in the form of literature, shows the praise of literature for human nature. Chinese contemporary novels provide a more creative space for the disabled stories. Therefore, the prime target of this dissertation is to comb and discuss systematically the theme of narrative about the disabled.the dissertation firstly discuss the characteristics of the narrative context of Chinese contemporary novels about the disabled, and relationship of identity consciousness of the writing subject. The narrative context of Chinese contemporary novels about the disabled shows a diversified developing trend, which is embodied as follows:the character narration transforms from supporting edge to the center of the protagonist; emotional attention changes from single sympathy to multiple complex emotional narrative; narrative mode converts the single complanation narrative to fusion of multiple three-dimensional narrative, accepted interpretation turns from single aesthetic interpretation to multiple comprehensive interpretation. While in the matter of the relationship of identity consciousness, the creative subject is displayed in form of contradiction between identity and deviation. Both of them constitute the research foundation on theme of the disabled narrative of Chinese contemporary novels. On this basis, the dissertation concludes and analyzes four themes of narrative about the disabled.Firstly, the theme of loneliness experience. The feeling of lonely experience is unique for the disabled. In the disabled narrative of Chinese contemporary novels, this theme is mainly embodied from three aspects:the lonely experience about closed hearts which is caused by hiding of dignity and sense of inferiority; the lonely experience about social exclusion which is caused by the demand of survival instinct; and the lonely experience about strong pressure which is caused by the superiority of the healthy people.Secondly, the theme of moral quest. Contemporary novels bestow the good and evil side of moral ethics respectively to the disabled and the healthy people, and exhibit the authentic exploration of people in the real society towards civilized evolution in the form of moral metaphor as well as realistic choice between justice and interests. The actual weakness of the disabled reflects the ambivalence between sympathy and discrimination of the healthy people from the perspective of moral judgment.Thirdly, the theme of equal love. Due to the defects of bodies, the disabled are often given the unfair treatment in the aspects of basic sexual demand, love that could please each other and marriage, families that could realize social continuation and etc. However, as part of human society, they also need sex and love, need to enjoy the warmth of marriages and families, and raise their children, enjoy their long lives. Contemporary novels dig in deep on this theme, provides a good case of literature for human consideration.Fourthly, the theme of suffering redemption. The difficulty in reality the disabled face with is direct, can not be resisted. But mental suffering is much heavier in the depth of their hearts. Contemporary novels indicate the oriental religious beliefs and redemptive way of love, by narrating how disabled people save themselves from realistic misery and gain redemption from mental suffering.By analyzing the four themes of narrative about the disabled, the dissertation summarizes the cultural poetics, metaphoric poetics and comparative poetics of the narrative, and generalizes the poetic significance of the thesis.
