A Study Of Chen Duxiu 's Modernization Thought

Chen Duxiu is a distinguished political figure in the modern history of China, witnessed the historic drastic change in the situation of Modern China. Not only is he the founder of the Communist Party of China, but he is a famous modern Chinese revolutionary and thinker. History is not that judging a hero by his victory or defeat,and we have to look at whether he has played a role in promoting the social and historical progress.In terms of political modernization,the core of modernization thoughts of Chen Duxiu was Democracy and the legal system.He pursuited of Bourgeois democracy in his early years,criticismed Bourgeois democracy in his medium term,then he re-awared Bourgeois democracy again in his later years.Including some ideas and thoughts which beyond other thinkers in the same period;The thoughts of legal of Chen Duxiu is mainly about comparison between the Western society and Oriental,criticismed patriarchal clan system of China,and called for modern rule of law.In terms of Economy modernization,although Chen Duxiu was not an economist,but his economic ideas includes open-society and industridization,The greatest contribution was how to understand capitalism.He called on that Don’t be afraid of Capitalism.He advocated to make basis for socialist construction,through the full development of capitalism.In terms of cultural modernization,His enlightenment thought is a relatively clear-cut ideological boundary marker of China’s modernization process,evolving gradually from the "Used","system" level to the cultural values level.In terms of human modernization,throughout the whole extraordinary life of Chen Duxiu, studies on Chen Duxiu should not be limited to the political front, and we should see his various social activities and writings play the role of progressing China’s modernization.If the full launch of China’s modernization starts with the new cultural movement, then, studying modern China’s development will have to study Chen Duxiu, which is to be researched under the background of modernization.This article on Chen reads political, ideological and social impact as the main line. It presents the internal logic relationship between Chen Duxiu and some of the basic historical facts of China’s modernization efforts, especially Chen Duxiu and modern Chinese intellectual enlightenment, literary revolution, the people’s democratic movement, the liberation of humanity, social and economic development, tradition and science, culture and religion, national independence and early Communist Party of China so as to show Chen’s important influence on modern China and a huge boost for China’s modernization process. The first part of this article discusses the initial development of the plight of China’s modernization in the early20th century and the social activities of Chen Duxiu and tells social background of chen’s changing and developing thought. The second part of the article is based on China’s historical stage of social development, that is the May Fourth period, Founding Period of CPC and the Great Revolution period, and deeply analyses the evolution of social activities and ideas of Chen Duxiu in various historical stages, longitudinally reflects the evolution and interactively internal association of its modernation thinking changing with the social and historical process. The third part of the article, respectively from Chen’s idea on scientific, social, economic, legal, religious, ethical, literature, education and women liberation analyze its role in promoting the development of early modern; it expounds Chen’s, in the process of social practice, a series of ground-breaking-at-that-time-but-farsighted new ideas and concepts in detail, which converge to a new historical direction of the development of China’s social modernization, and indeed promote the progress of China’s modernization, especially in the aspect of social thought historically moving forward. By the above discussion and analysis, this article is to restore the elites’ difficultly explore at that times in road of Chinese modernization and think about the profound impact of it.
