Under the increasingly fierce market competition environment and the increasinglydemanding product quality, manufacturing costs and after-sales service and other indicatorsare forcing designers and manufacturers to produce finer products with a lower cost in ashorter product development and production. And the70%to80%of the production costs isdetermined in the design phase, so the validity of the product design decisions have enormousimpact on the manufacturing cost.while the emerging of new network technology andinformation technology has globally created a new economic era in which wealth comes fromknowledge and the competition among enterprises will turn into knowledge-orientedOn one hand,there are large numbers of exponentially growing product knowledge in themiddle of product development and manufacturing, and related product knowledge presentthe features of heterogeneous and distributed and dynamic, which causes difficulties inknowledge acquisition and representation. At the meantime, such difficulties impedeknowledge share and reuse, furthermore they could largely reduce the efficiency ofknowledge-based Decision Support Systems (DSS).On the other hand, with the expansion of DSS and the accelerated decision-makingactivities, given the fact that there are abundant decision resources in the Internet, the questionof how to select the most capable decision-making model from the wealthy of networkdecision resources to help enterprises with the decision-making in product development hasbecome one of the most urgent as well as the most important research topics.The improvement of the quality of product design decision can not be done withoutknowledge, and the effective exploit of knowledge is closely related to the knowledge-baseddecision-making methods.The kernel of this thesis are as follows: the proposition ofontology-based knowledge modeling approach and principles; definitude of the knowledgeevaluation method and the mechanism during decision-making processes; illustration of theprocess, methods and technology route of decision support and the detailed discussion on themechanism of DSS and the management of decisive task on the basis of the acquiredknowledge of effective method of each product design and manufacture stages. All of theabove are with the knowledge processing methods of knowledge engineering as its main line,and the principles and approaches of artificial intelligence as its technical means. Whereby toestablish and perfect a theoretical system of DSS based on the concept of broad productknowledge. And on this basis, a more feasible GPKDSS prototype system that based on theconcept of broad product knowledge shall be designed out from the aspect of information system software development methodology to improve the decision ability and efficiency ofdecision-makes.The main points and innovations are as follows:1. On the concept of system integration, DSS theory based on the concept of broadproduct knowledge is proposed in the first chapter, system structure of DSS is designed, initialhierarchical model and logical model framework are established and the solution to theproblems in the decision of broad product knowledge is put forward, and the key technologiesused has been researched and implemented.2. Chapter two offers the basic idea of based on knowledge, aiming at decision-making,assisted by evaluation, with semanteme throughout the entire knowledge-based DSS, whichfunctions as the technical system of DSS.3. Based on the analysis of the entire product life-cycle theory, Chapter three putsforward the concept of broad product knowledge and probes into internet-based acquisitionmethod of the text-mode broad product knowledge and the acquisition method ofknowledge-map-based broad product service knowledge. Above all, issues on intelligentacquisition of the product knowledge in the system and the acquisition efficiency of effectiveinformation have been solved in this chapter. Whereby the defining principles of evaluationindex system of product knowledge have been put forward, and based on whichcomprehensive evaluation index system for knowledge has been established, quantitativecalculation method on the index has been determined and the theoretical framework of thecomprehensive evaluation of applied extension superiority on the product knowledge hasbeen perfected, whose validity has been verified with examples.4. Combining ontological engineering and knowledge modeling, Chapter four definesthe principle of ontology-based knowledge modeling, proposes a ontology constructionapproach to broad product design knowledge which offers a uniform description standard forall the product knowledge resources. Furthermore, it describes the main classes and genericrelationship as well as makes the OWL description segments of dedicated tank truck.5. In Chapter five, with Service-Oriented Architecture and Semantic Web Technology,decisive task submission approach and decomposition algorithm are proposed; a series ofdecisive task operating processes that are able to call one another are established and asemantic-based fuzzy clustering algorithm for decision service are put forward, whosevalidity has been verified with examples.6. Chapter six illustrates the division of system development strategy and the division offunctional module, as well as the selection principles of system development tools. Finally, with a certain vehicle manufacture as example, this chapter developes a DSS prototypesystem GPKDSS based on the concept of broad product knowledge to test the theories andapproaches proposed by this thesis.
