Forestry industry has important influence in both ecology and economy. Therefore, the pressing national issues of environmental pollution and resource shortage associated with economical development have made the growth of forestry industry of even more realistic significance nowadays. Forest resources are relatively scarce in Jiangsu Province. However, its forestry industry has developed rapidly, mainly thanks to the development of its key forestry industry belts. In another word, on the basis of multilateral cooperation, the regional economy gathered with forest resources, forestry industry and urban, has achieved a good momentum of development. In this regional economy, a cluster of linear infrastructure is the main development axis. Along the main axis, lots of cities and towns are the carriers.Although the key forestry industry belts in Jiangsu have distinctive characteristics, problems still remain. Thus, research on sustainable development of forestry industry belts has important significance both theoretically and practically.By reviewing relevant studies at home and abroad, this paper researched into key issues such as formation, development, and current stage of key forestry industry belts in Jiangsu. Moreover, this paper proposed developing strategies and countermeasures based on these research findings. Security mechanism and policy were also put forward to ensure sustainable development.In order to providing a fundamental basis forthe qualitative and quantitative analysis on the development of forestry industry area in Jiangsu, this paper first reviewed some researches, including the industrial belt formation and development theory, industry gathering theory, industry life cycle theory, and so on.Secondly, the development course and present situation of several key forestry industry belts in Jiangsu were analyzed. According to the results, Jiangsu has advantages in location, regional economy, social environment and human resources. More analysis was made from the supply and demand factors, environmental factors and institutional factors. Thirdly, this paper employed both Compertz Curve and Logistic Curve to determine the currentstage of the development of key forestry industry belts in Jiangsu. BP neural network was also used to build a model and to predict its development trend. Besides, an evaluation index system was built and Grey Clustering Method was used to evaluate the sustainability of development. At last, the strategy of sustainable development of key forestry industry in Jiangsu was put forward. The five key industries will be focused on the development of Yang wood board paper integration, tree seedlings, comprehensive utilization of characteristic economic forest fruit, cultivation and utilizationof wild animals and plants, forest and wetland ecotourism.Meanwhile, the development ability of the industrial belt will be enhanced by taking the strategies in resource, industry, market, and technology. Moreover, the sustainable development ability of the industrial belt will be ensured by the perfection of the system and policy guidance.The analysis onthe influencing factors of the sustainable development of forestry industry area in this paper is believed to broaden the depth of the study on the theory of forestry industry area in theory.The establishment of the strategy of the sustainable development of forestry industry area in Jiangsu is believed to promotethe development offorestry industry in Jiangsu from the practical significance. In a word, the research on forestry industry area has just started. This paper could provide a theory and practice reference forthe related departments to promote the sustainable development of key forestry industry area in Jiangsu.
