Studies On Sustainable Development Strategies Of The Oasis Forestry In The Wuwei Region, Gansu Province, China And Its Potential Capacity Estimation

Based on AHP Model supported by entropy technology,the proportional weights of major indicators for sustainable development in the Wuwei Oasis ecosystem were analyzed.The sustainable development capacities for economy,environment and social developments were further calculated,using Multiple Hierarchies & Targets Fuzzy Comprehensive Measurement Model.The general sustainable development capacity and its regional differentiation were summed up.It was suggested that the differences in the sustainable development capacity among the four counties in Wuwei oasis is relatively great and regularly related to the regional differentiation in water resource and the location natures in the river reaches.Some strategies and measures for the sustainable development of the forestry in this region also were put forward as:(1)to increase the water use efficiency(WUE) and establish an economy development system of resource saving with a core of high WUE mechanism;(2)to protect the water conservation forestry in the alpine zone in the southern,maintain and strengthen the shelterbelt forestry within the oasis zone in the middle and establish wind-breaking and sand-stabilizing woodlands along the boundary zone near to the desert in the northern.And to further combine the three to form an integrated trinitarian oasis protection forestry system;(3)to decrease the pressures on the environment through developing education,raising the environment awareness and renewing the view of development.Especially to cast away the erroneous old idea of 'the more cropland,the more benefits' and to return the fragile cropland with water shortage and sand damage problems to woodland and rangeland; (4)to re-adjust and optimize the structure of agriculture and forestry for the purpose of promoting marketization of agriculture and forestry and benefiting farmers' income; (5)to pay great attention to the role of science and technology in the remote oasis regions and promote the reformation of forestry economy development patterns for the purpose of Prospero using forestry with science and technology;(6)to speed up the development of the eco-tourism and holiday services,and to cultivate them for forming a demonstration and a key part for the service enterprises in the 'Silk Road'.
