Urban rail transit is a kind of large capacity and high efficiency transportation, it has many advantages, such as large capacity, high speed, less pollution, low energy consumption, high punctuality rate, good comfort, convenient taking and so on. So it has received extensive attention from many countries in the world and has become an important trend of world transportation development. In recent years, with the acceleration of rapid economic growth and urbanization, as a popularization transportation mode, urban rail transit has been made a great development. But along with the development of urban rail transit, security problems are increasingly highlighted, traffic accidents would bring great losses to the people and the country. The cause of traffic accidents is complicated. Depends on the progress of science and technology, the safety and reliability of urban rail transit equipment is increasing day by day, but the proportion of human factors accounted for traffic accidents is larger and larger. Urban rail transit drivers system is the core subsystem in the safety system, the level of competency of the drivers is directly determines the urban rail transit trains’ safe operation and the probability of the traffic accident. Therefore, the research on urban rail transit drivers’competency will clear the various quality characteristics need by the work of urban rail transit drivers, and also it will provide a great support to urban rail transit drivers’recruitment, training, selection, evaluation and management work. In a word, it plays an important role in the urban rail transit safety protection.On the basis of systematic analysis of relevant research at home and abroad, and combined with the project of urban rail transit, the Behavioral Event Interview method is used to establish an initial indicator set of urban rail transit drivers’competency, and the questionnaires are prepared. Through a questionnaire survey,680 valid questionnaires were returned. Based on the survey result, the confirmatory factor analysis and the exploratory factor analysis are made, and the urban rail transit drivers’ competency model is set up. The model contains four dimensions:personality characteristics, professional knowledge, professional quality and basic quality, and 15 competency indexs. At the same time, depends on the system entropy theory and the dissipative structure theory, the paper analyses the survey result from the level of urban rail transit drivers’competency, the relationship between urban rail transit drivers’ competency factors, and the external factors influence on the urban rail transit drivers’ competency. An entropy function of urban rail transit drivers’ competency system is constructed too. And then,230 Beijing urban rail transit drivers are randomly selected as the investigation objects, the driver’s basic quality, personality characteristics, professional quality and professional knowledge are investigated. The original data of urban rail transit drivers’ investigation is used to make an empirical analysis of the urban rail transit drivers’ competency model and the entropy function of urban rail transit drivers’competency system. The empirical analysis results show that the size of the entropy can distinguish the different competency levels of the drivers, and it can accurately reflect the orderly degree of the urban rail transit drivers’competency system. At last, the entropy function and the dissipative structure theory of urban rail transit drivers’competency system are used to analyze the development law of urban rail transit drivers’ organizational structure and the urban rail transit drivers’ management method. Based on the talent assessment platform and personnel assessment method, the suggestions are provided to improve the urban rail transit drivers’competency, which will play an important role in the urban rail transit drivers’ team construction and train operation safety protection.In comparison with exsiting research results, the urban rail transit drivers’ competency is taken as a complete system in this work, and the influences between each competency factors are considered. The main innovations of this paper are: ①Build rail transit drivers’competency system, and make an expansion of competency theory applications. ②Combination of entropy and dissipative structure theory to analysis competency elements, and put forward the concept of the urban rail transit drivers’ competency system. ③Take the drivers’competency as a complete urban rail transitation systems in the research, and analysis the system features of urban rail transit drivers’competency to improve the exsiting researches. ④Build a competency entropy function, and make a quantitative research on the drivers’competency. ⑤Analyze the entropy change mechanism of the urban rail transit drivers’ competency system to extend the research to the level of mechanistic study. And at last, the research results are applied to the practical management of urban rail transit drivers.
