A Study On Enterprise Moral Practice

In economic globalization and network information age, especially when our country’s economy is in transformation period, it is inevitable to encounter numerous new problems and challenges in the practice process of corporate governance in the face of the coexistence of various economic components and diversification of benefits pattern as well as values. In addition to the influence of market economy tide, plenty of enterprises neglect the cultivation of “soft power” in the practice of production and management. There exist venality,mercenary and wicked management etc. to varying degrees. As for certain enterprises, there also exists formalism or nihilism in the moral practice. Therefore, it is necessary to specialize in the moral practice of enterprises, solve the problem of enterprise development, create the image of enterprise brand, elevate the “soft power” of enterprise culture, accumulate advantages for development and boost the enterprises to realize the development of “higher quality, more efficiency, more fairness as well more sustainability”. Proposal on Formulating the Thirteenth Five-Year Plan of National Economy and Social Development by Central Committee of CPC has been passed at the Fifth Plenary Session of the Eighteenth CPC Central Committee. Based on the new normalcy of our country’s economy of “velocity change, structure optimization and power transformation”, the development concept of firmly establishing “creativity, coordination, green, openness and sharing” has been put forward,which is the idea of developing our country’s economy and society during the 13 th five-year plan period as well as longer period to come. Thus, the paper applies interdisciplinary theories and methods of management, ethics and ideological political education etc. to carry out a comprehensive, systematic and in-depth study into moral practice of enterprises, which is aimed at elevating the soft power of enterprise culture, enhancing the sustainable development of enterprises and providing theoretical support as well as realistic basis for the thorough modern enterprise reform.The paper has illustrated the concept connotation, essential feature and value of enterprise moral practice in the first place as the precondition and basis of argument.Enterprise moral practice refers to the activity of enterprise that is for the purpose of sticking to the principle of “unity of morality and benefits”, coordinating interest relationship,regularizing moral behavior as well as elevating “soft power” and sustainable development ability under certain guidance of moral sense. In the second place, it has explicated the utility of the core concept of “enterprise moral practice”. As a form of social consciousness, morality is spiritual. However, it cannot remain at the spiritual level of ideology, but has to be underactual practice. In consequence, morality is a kind of “spirit of practice” in essence. It is the unity of theory and practice as well as knowledge and action. Moreover, it has disclosed the value of enterprise moral practice on the basis of explicating concept connotation and essential feature of enterprise moral practice. Enterprise moral practice and enterprise sustainable development are in possession of internal unity, which are strategic resources capable of bringing about economic and social benefits conducive to forming diligent,motivated, morality advocating as well as good promoting positive energy so as to constantly boost socialist ideological and ethical progress into a new level.The ideology of Chinese and overseas enterprise moral practice and the theories concerning Marxism provide precious thinking resources and theoretical basis for studying moral practice. In China, traditional cultural significance is obedient to moral principles and norms such as “syncretism between heaven and men, people oriented” and “self-discipline and social commitment” etc., insisting on carrying out business and enterprise moral practice on the precondition of benefiting and by focusing on honesty; in western countries, due to the early development of industrial and commercial economy, developed market economy and rich economic ethics thought, western economic ethics are primarily based on rationality,advocating scientific knowledge, pursuing trade freedom, emphasizing contract equality,respecting human rights, attaching importance to “utilitarianism”, and affirming the internal correlation between economy and morality. However, there exist problems such as value conflict, duality between heaven and human, dichotomy between morality and utilitarianism as well as contradiction between efficiency and fairness; relationship theory of Marxism concerning proletarian moral practice, morality and benefits, theory related to socialism with Chinese characteristics have provided a theoretical basis for thoroughly studying enterprise moral practice under the new circumstances and the new normalcy.Enterprise moral practice enjoys a rich content and wide range. In terms of enterprise moral practice system, they involve fundamental factors such as subject of enterprise moral practice, norms of enterprise moral and enterprise moral environment etc. The subject of enterprise moral practice refers to the enterprise taken as independent legal entity and all its interior members. Enterprise subject refers to the undertaker and performer of enterprise moral practice, which is the primary factor of enterprise moral practice. As an independent legal entity, the enterprise should not only pursue the maximization of benefits, but also stick to morality and shoulder moral responsibility for selection of enterprise behavior in the process of independent management, sole responsibility for its own profits or losses,self-discipline and self-development; norm of enterprise ethics is an indispensible factor of enterprise moral practice, which is the criterion of enterprise moral practice. Our country’snorm of enterprise ethics contains general norm and concrete norm. The general norm is based on socialist ethics system and socialist core values; the concrete norm is aimed at discussing in what behavioral norms and moral requests the enterprise should take to carry out production and operating activities, including primarily team spirit, justice and equity, equal attention to morality and benefits, responsibility undertaking as well as honesty and trustworthiness etc.; enterprise moral environment is also an important factor of enterprise moral practice. Enterprise moral practice environment refers mainly to the social environment related to enterprise moral practice, namely, the total of internal and external social condition of enterprise moral practice activities. Enterprise moral environment has an influence on enterprise moral practice and meanwhile enterprise moral practice has been gradually changing enterprise moral environment. Speaking of hierarchical structure of enterprise moral practice contents, they are mainly concerned with enterprise development moral practice,enterprise exchange moral practice, enterprise operating moral practice and enterprise management moral practice. Hierarchy and system factors of enterprise moral practice are mutually interpenetrated and affected, constituting a subsystem in enterprise system that is namely enterprise moral practice system. In the face of new circumstances and new tasks, the enterprise moral practice in our country should be based on enterprise operation views and values of socialist theory with Chinese characteristics, building a good image of conscientiously shouldering social responsibilities on the basis of “integrity” and boosting enterprises’ harmonious, well-aligned and sustainable development.Prominent problems existing in reality and requirement of reality are the motive power of the theory. Problems and requirements urge people to think and search for solutions.Therefore, it is very necessary to inspect the current situation of enterprise moral practice and analyze problems. Since our country have been experiencing opening up and reform for 30 years, enterprise moral practice has changed in a positive manner such as from passive adaptation to active practice, from passive learning to active learning and from “disciplined by others” to “self-disciplined” in performing social responsibilities etc. However, moral practice is based on the value orientation of “valuing benefits above justice” in the process of economic transition of enterprises in our country, which makes plenty of enterprises neglect cultivation of “soft power” in the production and management practice, value orientation deviated and symptoms of formalism and lack of moral education appear to varying degrees.It has also caused not a few serious social problems. For instance, some enterprises put benefits upmost, value benefits above justice and even forget righteousness at the sight of benefits, draw water to their own mill as well as swindle, which has a strong impact on their own regular management and sustainable development, resulting in the fact that moralpractice is difficult to exert example effect. The reason for this lies mainly in insufficient recognition of enterprise moral practice, value mismatch in social transition period, impact of extreme egoism as well as divorce between enterprise moral theory together with moral education and enterprise practice.In the face of revolution of big data age, creativity and fusion have become the theme of enterprise development. In the mean time, enterprise moral practice is also facing new tasks and challenges. Enterprise moral practice “model” should transit from “subject” standard to“exchange” standard, from the pattern of “managing enterprises as per the law” to the pattern of “promoting morality and law” simultaneously, and from passive course of action to active course of action so as to boost the enterprise to realize the unity of “economic man” and“moral man” eventually and transform enterprise moral force into its core competitiveness. In cognitive method, the enterprises should perceive enterprise moral practice on the basis of system approach and explore the complementary issue of fractal theory between system recognition and system method of enterprise moral practice; in practice, the enterprises should enhance the management of implementing planning of enterprise morality and explore the drive of operating enterprise moral practice. Specifically speaking, this is to bring enterprise moral practice in the strategic management that is beneficial for promoting the joint development of enterprise and national economy, blend enterprise moral practice in the process management to create “Brand-name enterprise” filled with value creativity and concretize enterprise moral practice as enterprises’ responsibility undertaking to boost enterprises to realize sustainable development. Facing the requirement of new circumstances of economic operation in our country, it is necessary to enhance the cultivation of “soft power” of enterprise culture, carry forward excellent traditional culture actively, innovate the access to enterprise moral practice, highlight formation of moral quality and strive for establishing new coordinates of enterprises’ economic development. Meanwhile, enterprises should endeavor to build a good image in the public, elevate the “soft power” of enterprise culture and enhance enterprises’ sustainable development by utilizing modern management means and methods.
