Low-density cement-bonded particleboard is a kind of new environmentally safe material without environment pollution and any detrimental substance. Development of low-density cement-bonded particleboard will help improve the efficiency of wood utilization, offer a method of industry utilization of plantation wood, promote sustainable development of forestry industry, also further production and reform of new construction material in China. The paper has systematically researched contents of low-density cement-bonded particleboard with X-ray, DSC, FTIR, Cone calorimeter etc. modern method of analysis, combining Wood science and Technology specialized knowledge and correlative knowledge. The contents included: the hydration characteristics of wood-cement-water mixtures, effect of wood cement hydration process, the technology and properties for low-density cement-bonded particleboard, bonding strength between wood and cement paste, flame retardancy, acoustic performance and thermal property of low-density cement-bonded particleboard.Through the above research the author has revealed the hydration thermal properties of wood-cement-water mixtures, the effect of wood on cement hydration process, and meanwhile bonding strength between wood and cement paste. The result provided the theoretical basis of modified the hydration characteristics of wood-cement-water mixtures, and it also provided foundation for selected material of cement-bonded particleboard producing. The better technology was suggested through process experiment and analyzed the physical-mechanics properties of low density cement-bonded particleboard boards with different processing conditions. And meanwhile, flame retardancy, acoustic performance and thermal property of low-density cement-bonded particleboard were provided by test.Though experiment and testing, the result showed as following: It was more or less influence degree of wood on Portland cement hydration process with different wood materials. Effect of wood on Portland cement hydration process has originated in primary stage of cement hydration. The compatibility of wood with Portland cement was improved with treatments included cold water extraction , hot water extraction, 10g · kg-1 NaOH extraction and/or chemical additive. The bonding strength between Portland cement with wood was affected with cold pressing, curing age and resin content. The remarkable effect were density, MOR, MOE, IB, TS of low density cement-bonded particleboard caused by the cement/wood ratio and particle size. With integrated various kinds of factors, the optimum technology of low density cement-bonded particleboard is 6cm of particle length , 0.2~0.5mm of particle thickness and cement/wood ratio at 2.0.
