MgO cement-bonded particleboard is a material does not contain any harmful chemicals, it is pollution-free and environment-friendly for environment and indoor air quality. Developing MgO cement-bonded particleboard, will inject new vitality to wood utilization, will develop fast-growing wood in new ways for industry and promote the sustainable development of forestry industry.In this paper, we study the thermo compression technical, the composition of proportioning, inflaming retarding, acoustics and thermal characteristics, as well as assembly time and particle morphology on MgO cement-bonded particleboard properties; Use additive to increase the water resistance, testing the hydration temperature of MgO cement to study the effect of additives to the MgO cement hydration process. Through this research the conclusions can be drawn as follow:(1) Considering the cost of particleboard performance and production, the best thermo compression process (thickness 12mm): pressing temperature 90℃, pressing time 10min;(2) MgO cement ratio to impact the bending strength, elastic modulus very significant. When the water-cement ratio is 0.25, the bending strength and elastic modulus is the maximum; with cement-wood ratio increase, the plate bending strength and elastic modulus decreases, while the internal bond strength increased;(3) wood shavings’morphology on MgO cement-bonded particleboard have a significant effect, the best size is 20 ~ 70mm×2 ~ 4mm×0.2 ~ 0.3mm;(4) Additives can change the hydration course of MgO cement availably. Silica, ferrous sulfate, tri-sodium phosphate, sodium silicate, etc. can increase the water resistance, and mechanical properties of the MgO cement-bonded particleboard to a certain degree; combined additives is more better than one additive for improve the performance of MgO cement-bonded particleboard. When used by composite silica, ferrous sulfate, tri-sodium phosphate, get higher strength; combined use of silica, calcium chloride, sodium silicate, the swelling is minimum, maintain rate of the bending strength and elasticity modulus is maximum;(5) With the increase of the cement-wood ratio, MgO cement-bonded particleboard decreased fire risk, fire-retardant performance improvement. When the cement-wood ratio up to 2.0, the performance of MgO cement-bonded particleboard to flame retardant level; (6) In the range of the study, the thermal conductivity ratio of MgO cement-bonded particleboard increases by the cement-wood ratio;(7) oxygen magnesium cement particle board has a sound absorption performance, especially to the high-frequency sound waves, the low-frequency sound absorption capacity is poor than before. Cement-wood ratio, particle shape and thickness of the MgO cement-bonded particleboard is not significant on acoustic performance.
