Urban High Rise Complex Development In XIAN

Urban suburbanization has occurred in many western cities during last century. Accompanied with the burst of the city infrastructure development in 1970's, especially the popularization of rail-transit system, the city center renewal toward high efficiency and intensive had been taken. Today, the integrative trend such as the comprehensive and integrated features reflected in the connection between urban space and building space becomes obvious. With the subject transformation taken place in the times development, the subject of study for the tall buildings is also facing profound transformation from concept to method. As another new round of the densification development of city comes, the middle and tall building are facing the trend of urbanization characterized by colligation, aggregation, concentration and combination, which were integrated into the sustainable development tide of the city.Xi'an, as one of the representative metropolitan cities in China, is now experiencing a dual challenge of both high densification and urban sprawl. Based on the present situation of cities popularized by high-rise buildings and the development trends of high-rise buildings in the world, the conception of urban high rise complex across the borderline of architecture and urban studies was presented, which was brought into the framework of typological research of urban buildings. The overall framework of high rise building complex, medium-view urban space and micro-design of construction land were evaluated from the macroscopically vision of cities and in depth of history, in which the functions and potentials of the high rise complex were discussed in detail.The thesis mainly includes four parts as follows.The first part summarized the evolution history of high building in modern city. Based on that, the point of view that the high-buildings'urban characteristic would be further deepen and the urban high rise complex is the typical city artifact type was stated.In the second part, the concept of urban high rise complex was proposed on the ternary explanation clue - the technology, modernity and urban characteristics. The research theory frame based on concept was tided up based on the urban architecture theory and the research frame combining of"the spot, the line and the surface".The third part focused on the high rise complex in Xi'an city, pointed out that Xi'an possessed special area development characteristics, where the unique historical and cultural space and modern city structure were highly superposed. The urbanization and urban sprawl were going hand in hand at present. The subway project would quickly evoke the historical turning-point of the space transformation. In Chapter VI, the GIS data analysis tool and the level analytical method were adopted to build influence gene systems including five categories, twelve secondary categories and twenty-four items, and further to have a special study on the layout of high rise complex in Xi'an city, where the key control area, the encouraging area, the restricted area and flexible white area were differentiated.In the forth part, development strategy of urban high building complex and the method applicable to Xi'an were concluded based on the development view of harmonious urban architecture. Meanwhile, demonstrations of the design were discussed for typical, important and characteristic area in Xi'an.
