The "unique" twenty-ninth Beijing Olympic Games in 2008 had come to end successfully. The 16 days' sports event, expanded the China's global influence, meanwhile it enhanced China's image and status in the international stage. Although in recent years China has tremendous development, it is still strange to many people from other parts of the world. Beijing Olympic Games makes people focus on China, a nation with five thousand years-civilization. The media from all over the world concentrate on "Bird Nest", "Water Cube", Olympic architectures and Chinese people. Tens of thousands of athletes was competing in the Olympic arena. At the same time, they came close to China and understand China from multiple perspectives, multi-lateral and multi-level way. Although the Olympic flame went out, the visitors'experience in Beijing are also spread to the world in various ways. Only by Olympic Games, people cannot understand China very well however; at least, Beijing and China have an opportunity to show themselves in a comprehensive way in Olympic event by the platform.However, there are many places worth consideration behind the huge success, such as huge capital investment, tremendous labor and resource cost, and government intervention.Our country is a developing country with rapid development rate. There are more and more events held in China, such as the Olympic Games, the World Expo, flower expo, and festivals. These activities have become the important opportunity for promoting urban development and the landscape construction. In this short-term, city-scale activities, temporary landscape has played a special role in the process. It not only adds charm for large scale and medium scale events in the city, but also effectively satisfies temporary needs and prevents the environmental impact from the short-term land using. Through analyzing a number of temporary foreign landscape design successful cases, this paper believes that these landscape architectures generally satisfy the essential requirements of the modern landscape design:a perfect combination of the site, using ingenious methods to solve existing problems and meet a lot of function. Meanwhile they also show a high-quality artistic level and save a lot of money for the organizers. This paper focuses on the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. It sums up the Olympic Games temporary landscape design principles and specific design ways from the theme expression, space shaped, using material skillfully, structural innovation, color performance, participation and interests, immediate results, site guidance, the application of new technology, new facilities and promoting ecologic and so on. By reviewing large and medium-scale events of all over the world, it stated out how the temporary landscape designs are used after the events and how to choose a Variety of strategies are summarized. Finally, combing with the existing problems of landscape constructing in the activities, this paper points out it should make rational use of temporary landscape in order to promote urban sustainable development.
