Centlpeda m1n1ma 1s a conunon Chinese herb of the re11ev1ng exter1orcategory. It has the effect of exPel11ng wind, d1spers1ng co1d, remov1ngdmpness and clear1ng the nasal passage. The ant1--1nflannnat1on effectof the V0CM was studied 1n this thes1s by means of modern pharmco1oglca1methods. Severa1 types of 1nf1amtory animal mode1s were used 1n thestudy. Thl1e prob1ng lnto anti--1nflaJnmat1on effect and mechan1sm of V0CM,we were the first to study its anti--1nf1a!nmatlon effect and the mechanismof action by means of advanced sodern scientific research methods such*as radio1unnoassny, fluorospectrophotometry, ultravio1etspectroPhotometry, ce1l culture, f1o' cytometry, irmnohistochemistry,and in situ hybr1dization at the 1evel of ce1l mo1ecu1e. The resu1ts ofthe experiments show that:l. V0CM inh1bited the pemeab1llty of blood cap1l1ary of 1nf1-torytissue, and inhlb1ted the edemas Which were induced by seyera1edematogen1c substances, such as h1staJn1ne, xylene, carrageenan, egqWhlte and Preund's adjuvant. V0CM had an obvious protective effon-on the "TWO--h1t" anim1 mode1 of acute 1ung 1n jury in rats 1nducedby o1 ic acid and l1popo1ysaccharide and therefore lnhibited 1ung edema.It lnh1bited the chron1c granu1oma as we11. These resu1ts suggestedthat V0ou had a good effect of anti--inf1aretion.2. V0De had a wrked suppressive effect on the nomal andadrenalectomized mice's hind paw edema induced by carrageenan. Vimcou1d decrease the contents of inf1Wtory med1ators (h1stanene,prostag1andin E, ) and the 1eve1 of lip1d oxlde products (MDA) lnlnflmtlon t1ssue. It had no apparent effect on e1ther the we1ghtof the rat's adeena1 glands or the content of v1tan1n C andcho1esterol. Its effects w be related to the inh1b1t1on onlnflaJnmtory mediators and do not depend on the p1tu1tary--adrena1system.3. V0CM was ab1e to 1nhib1t the increase of N0, CRP and proinf1amLorycytoklnes such as TNFa in the acute 1nflanhation of the rat body.4. V0CM decreased the express1on of CD54 in the bronchial epitheliumtissue, 1nhibited the activat1on of NF--all p65 and express1on of itsM ln the bronchia1 ep1the1ium tissue of acute 1ung injuried rat.These facts suggest that V0CM can effective1y contro1 thelnf1anuntory cascade core by 1nh1b1t1ng the act1vat1on of NF--all p65 andexpresslon of its un 1n acute 1nf1-t1on. Therefore, the leve1s ofprolnflannntory cytokines were decreased.
