Using Statistical Methods To Explore The Elements Of Type 2 Diabetes Disease And Syndrome Of Syndromes

This study is based on the Items of the National Nature Fund—Research on the standardization of TCM syndrome related to diabetes (Assignment NUM: 90209012), utilizing the National Science and Technical Committee Fund for basal research (Assignment NUM: 2001Dea20010). Relied on the 2501 clinical cases of diabetic, we combine the multifarious statistical methods and probe into the syndrome factors, prescription and syndrome relationship and disease theory on diabetes, to the effect that we can find the connotative and valuable information from the clinical data, then we may get available conclusion about TCM symptoms and syndrome. It will be a uptrend that we do research on the syndrome of specific disease in virtue of the research means from various knowledge. We will discuss the study on the aspects below:1.Foundation and modification of the date-baseWe gathered their incipient information, medical examination, experiment check, symptoms, tongue, pulse, prescription and incipient diagnosis and we established the date-base with the 2501 clinical cases of diabetic from nine different hospitals since June 2003 to February 2005. Imposing a series of quality controlling technique to insure the information veracious and reliable , we consummate and trim the data-base.2. Study on the fundamental elements of TCM syndromes by Factor AnalysisMaking use of the Factor Analysis method, we have singled out the significant fundamental elements of TCM syndromes and breaking points of type-2 diabetes in both time and space aspects.3. Relationship between experiment data and syndromes based on Bayes NetworkWe choose the Bayes Network method to study the relationship between experiment data and symptoms or syndromes, in respect that Bayes Network has the directional idiosyncrasy and it can express the associations accurately among many different incidents. 4. Rresearch on the Relationship between prescriptions and syndromes by AssociationRules and Linear mixed ModelFor the relationship of prescriptions, symptoms and syndromes, we select the Association Rules, a kind of transverse research technique, to study on the beginning checkup data from the patient in hospital, meanwhile, we use the Linear mixed Model, a kind of lengthways research method, to analyze the same data in order to get a comprehensive understanding.5. The rules of type-2 diabetes mellitus based on Latent Structure ModelThe method of the Latent Structure Model is based on the computer technique. This method is mainly used on the syndrome research of TCM at present. It can represent the rules of the hypostases concerned of type-2 diabetes mellitus, in other words, TCM theory is objective and has it's own evolutive rules.The results of our research show that the theory of TCM is objective, rather than nonsensical. We can explain the TCM theory system through the modern technique. From all the examples, we know that TCM is a flexible subject and we can syncretize the TCM with other subjects and make them osmotic from each other. In that case, TCM will enrich itself by degrees.
