Sj(o|¨)gren's syndrome(SS) is a kind of chronic autoallergic disease which damages the exocrine gland and internal organs. Without the corresponding name of Traditional Chinese medicine now. TCM thinks dryness-pathogen is etiological factor. TCM is playing an important role in treating SS.Fluid-Increasing Decoction is investigation object. Established mice model of SS and observed specificity symptoms, hematological system and immune function. To investigate distribution feature of aquaporin-5 in SMG; To detect mRNA transcription levels by RT-PCR and contents by ELISA of Th1 like cytokine (IL-2,IFN-γ) and Th2 like cytokine (IL-4,IL-6) in SMG of SS model mice. The results showed that Fluid-Increasing Decoction can reduce the lymphocytes infiltration and alleviate the SMG swell of SS model mice, promote the salivary secretion of model animals, restrain swell of spleen and thoracic gland and cut down blood viscosity; The results showed that it could promote expression and change distribution of aquaporin-5 to regulate velocity of moisture content conveying. mRNA transcription levels of IL-2, IFN-γand IL-6 in SS model mice were higher than those in normal mice. Fluid-Increasing Decoction can reduce IFN-γand IL-6. From these experimental results, we concluded that the therapeutic mechanism of Fluid-Increasing Decoction on SS might be inhibiting enhancement of immune function and reducing the inflammation in SMG of SS model animals. And increase expression and change abnormal distribution of AQP5 in SMG. Fluid - Increasing Decoction cure SS by multitarget effect, providing the science data for approaching SS.
