During the process of unveiling the mask of love, literature plays an essential role. Art works related to love, in various forms, have become the mirror image of daily life and emotion evolvement, as well as the optimal perspective for artists to observe the spiritual desire of mankind. It is symbolic of the feature of different ages.Narrative background of urban romance TV drama is based on the city life; the narrative content is focus on the social life and the relationship between the multiple roles in specific groups. Urban romance TV drama shows people's emotional life and marriage in the contemporary urban life. It also reveals the worldly life, emotion, desire and confusion through fabricatlization and personalization. As a whole, urban romance TV drama has emotional narrative feature and plays a very important role in contemporary spirit in the society.Urban romance TV drama is one of the most popular and attractive drama types. There are two reasons for its boom:firstly, it's a traditional and modern cultural integration from the point of view of representation. The emergence and development of urban romance TV drama is both closely related with romance of traditional Chinese literature and the advance of urbanization in China; in addition, it is also affected by Hongkong and Taiwan romance TV drama. Secondly, the spread way is adapted to the essential characteristics of TV. The characteristics of TV media is in the form of the family media, and also "husband and wife family" as the axis of the families accepted this kind of form; this to a large extent determine content choice of the drama. Theme of love is an eternal theme to humanity and is becoming a narrative motif that favored by literary arts in the long-term cultural accumulation. Longing for love in relationship, marriage and family is a common sentiment for human being. As a result, Urban love and marriage theme TV drama correspond to three things-the TV object, spread way and the recipient in the drama process of production, spread and reception. The name of urban TV romance drama is widely used in creation and research since 1999.Although the number of urban TV romance drama is rising, the quality is improving, the influence is enhancing, and the research on urban TV romance drama is also increasing, the type classification is still indefinite. The family ethics play which is a sub-type of popular TV show and urban romance TV drama are often mixed up by the methodology of classification of popular TV show in the early 90s.The purpose of studying the urban romantic drama was not trying to display the nature of the urbanism. On the other hand, by calling "research of the conception of love in the urban romantic drama in transformation period" was trying to figure out the causes of changes of love and affection by studying how this drama occurred, developed and turned to be matured in 1990's. In addition, author wanted to demonstrate the urbanism, the crisis of love and the essence of people's feeling, psychological state, value orientation, and cultural characterization by studying this kind of drama in this essay. The reason why author chose to study the urban romantic drama during the 1990's was because during that time people lived in the transformed and intercultural society, they experienced different cultural aspects, especially they were exposed under the admixture between traditional Chinese culture and western culture. Thus, studying urban romantic drama during that time was the best image to show the urban people's concerns, humanity and personality in their daily life.The core part of culture is humanization, which emphasizes the importance of basic instinct and nature demand of heart. Culture is the solid foundation to establish human characters. However, the establishment is also embedded in and intertwined with the process of humanization. With the radical and dynamic modernization in China, among the variety of art works, drama started to assume an increasingly important role. It becomes the major and powerful tool to cultivate people's value towards love, to convey the notion of people's aspiration for love and life in the ideal stage. By means of studying the modern drama, one can easily and objectively capture a snapshot of evolvement of the human nature/character in the context of the radical social reform in the past a few decades. Traditional value towards love, no doubt, has been melt down and mixed with new elements from all sources. Culture of our own ethic group is during the process of dramatic change. All of these have been gradually seized and represented in drama. As such, conducting detailed research of the notions of love in drama can bring in immeasurable value to understand the love value and current living environment in China. Author investigated the essence of the culture by reading a mass of scripts of urban romantic drama, and especially those typical ones to discuss how this kind of drama was able to express the essence of culture by looking at how the drama fitted in the contemporary economical background, linguistic logic, creative logic, cultural psychology and popular culture during the transformation time in the society in 1990's. In this essay, author discussed how individuals'experiences in the transformation period have changed their emotions and feelings. This essay also showed a whole picture of the transition of the psychological structure in the mainstream culture and the changes of the traditional culture by looking at its history, incentive, development, consummate, selection and rejection, and renovation. Author tried to summarize the sequence of thought and the clues in the development of the love in the love theme in the drama during the transformation period. In addition, author tried to find out what the transformation patterns of the changes of the concept of the love were in the special period, because this information could help people find out how individuals'status was interacted with a healthy society. This research has very high academic value in the literature field because author discussed the meaning of the love, the appeal of the love, and difficulties of the culture-based choices on love through the discussion of the changes of the emotion, value orientation and cultural representation in the urban romantic drama, and tried to create a harmonic way to communicate the love among people in the new century.This article, by means of drama, systematically demonstrates the love and culture evolvement in the metropolitans in the past decade. Throughout the studying of drama, which has been placed under the intensive interaction of the historical culture tradition and the drastic social development, one is expected to obtain a more thorough understanding of the human character, logical manner, culture value, and aesthetical taste of our ethic group.Author revealed the development and transition of the conception of love in China during the transformed and intercultural period by reading, analyzing and comparing a large amount of books and scripts of drama, and also by studying the methods of film related aesthetics in this essay. The benefits of this research were to help people and the whole nation to participate in the globalized reconstruction of personality; to help people to make the right and logical decision; and to help people understand the common sense of love while they understanding the current status of the national culture. Thereby, people can fully understand the common sense of "world with love" through the psychological structure and psychological diathesis in the mainstream culture, and also they will be able to correctly analyzing themselves while they are facing to the world. |
