Study On The Kernel Words In Eastern Han Dynasty

The Kernel Word is so important in the basic word, and in Eastern Han Dynasty, the language is undergoing a transition process from Primitive Age to the Mediaeval Age of China. In this period, a lot of Buddhist literature was brought to China. So the language in Eastern Han Dynasty has important research value. We take the "M·Swadesh 100-word list" as our basis to research the Kernel Word. In this process, we used the theory of semantic field, to gather statistics and Synchronic describe the words which belong to the same semantic field. We analyzed their Significance, their syntax and compared their differences and similarities. At the same time, we try to outline the evolution of the words with the method of history analysis.The dissertation is about 270,000 words, consists of five chapters. It discussed 81 semantic field, involved 85 Kernel Word, including 725 specific headwords. The first chapter is the overview, that introduced this article's research object, the reason of the subject which we selected, the value of research for Kernel Words in Eastern Han Dynasty, the overview, the innovation, the limitation, the materials and the method of this study. The second chapter has studied the Kernel noun. The research contained the body noun, the bio noun and the natural phenomena noun. It involves 54 Kernel Words, including 402 head words. The three chapter has studied the Kernel verbs, it involves 19 core concept, including 238 headwords. In the four chapter, we have studied the adjective, included the color adjective, the temperature adjective and others. It involves 12 core words, including 85 headwords. And in the last chapter, we have discussed the feature of the Kernel words in Eastern Han Dynasty, pointed out the main innovation, the shortcomings and the direction for further research in this article at the same time.There are three main innovation pointes in this article:(1) Takes the "100-word list" as the basis to research the kernel Words that used in the literature of Eastern Han Dynasty, which enriches the vocabulary research for literature in Eastern Han Dynasty. By means of the study for the kernel nouns, verbs and adjectives, we could fined that, the most of kernel words are monosyllable in voice, only a few words are the two-syllable. And the kernel words changed frequently. This change shows us the produce of new words, the withering away of ole words and the diversification of the words. The reason why those happened is the further understanding for the world and the innovation of the old tools.(2) Describes the kernel Words as possible as relative. In the corpus, we not only take the influential history records, but also used the medical books, the sutra, the Taoism literature and the inscriptions. So that, we can learn the kernel words more comprehensive in difference type and style literature. In the process, we could discuss the kernel words and compared them from the meaning, the change, the combination manner, the location in sentence and the context, in order to describe the feature in a relatively detailed of the kernel words in Eastern Han Dynasty.(3) Takes the statistics method to study the kernel word while in studying. We can count the frequency of use of the words which in the same semantic period. This method could show the usage situation of the words more intuitive. Especially, we could use this method to describe the development of some words such as "red", "black", "green", "full".
