The northern ethnic regimes were the most active in Jin Period. Jin period was not only the most important turning point of ethnic relations, ethnic relation thoughts and ethnic culture, but also an period of all ethnic groups'improvement together. The northern ethnic regimes were on the stage of Chinese central plains'history for the first time. They not only promoted the progress of their own, but also promoted the common prosperity of all nationalities as well as the overall progress of Chinese society in the objective. Based on the possession of historical literature and archaeological material, this dissertation learns from related research achievements, uses the science theory and method of history, ethnology, religious studies, geography, and then does a comprehensive, systematic and thorough research on the relationship between Jin Period and the northern ethnic regimes. This dissertation mainly focuses on the following aspects:The first topic is the evolution of the Jin Dynasty and the migratory activity of the northern ethnic groups in this period. There are three subtopics in it. Part A:a brief introduction on the rise and fall of the Jin Dynasty. Part B:the research of the migratory activity of the northern ethnic groups from the aspects of the natural environment, economic factors, cultural change, ideas change and social factors and other social factors. Part C:the analysis of the Western Jin Dynasty ethnic policies.The second topic is the relations between Jin Dynasty and the northern ethnic regimes, including the relationship between Murong Yan and Jin, Dai-Wei and Jin Dynasty, Duanbu Xianbei and Jin, Han-Zhao and Jin, Later Zhao and Jin. Qianqin and Jin, Houqin and Jin, Xia and Jin, Western Region regimes and the Western Jin Dynasty. Viewing from the ethnic relations, political-military contact is the mainly relation. In the Western Jin Dynasty, the ethnic regimes maintained vassal relationship. But in the Eastern Jin Dynasty, the relations depended on the ethnic regimes'strength. profits and the rulers'ethnic relation thoughts. Take Qianqin for example, the Fu group twice submitted to the Eastern Jin Dynasty, in order to get the support of the people in Guanzhong. As its expansion, the Fu group interrupted the relations with the Eastern Jin Dynasty, and even launched a war to annex the Eastern Jin Dynasty again. After the Battle of Feishui, many Qianqin ministers submitted to the Eastern Jin Dynasty. In the economic and cultural aspects, chinesization was the mainstream, and the minority culture also penetrated into the Han culture.In addition, because the Eastern Jin Dynasty moved to the South, the northern Han landlords collaborated with the northern ethnic regimes. And their relationship was also an important aspect of ethnic relations.The third topic is the comparison on the ethnic relations between all northern ethnic regimes and Jin Dynasty. And then this dissertation explorers the characteristics of ethnic relations, discusses the influence of ethnic relations, historical evolution and culture thought on future generations.
