In Tang Dynasty, the tourism activities showed the surging and rising tendency. Roughly in MuZong's dynasty, the annual number of tourism activities reached the summit. Later in the following 50 years, it began to drop gradually and dropped under the historical average level of Tang dynasty after YiZong's dynasty. The factors of communication, politics, economic, culture and tourism attractions were the most important element that restricts the development of tourism in Tang dynasty. The tourism of Chang'an and Luoyang district, WuYue area, Chengdu plain as well as the middle reaches of Yangtze River developed well compared to other districts. WuYue area as well as the middle reaches of Yangtze River had the fastest speed of tourism development in Tang dynasty. The tourism of Chang'an and Luoyang district get a stable development. The tourism development of Chengdu plain was in recession. The tourism developed and progressed through Tang dynasty in the mass.There are three kinds of districts of the tourism development in Tang dynasty. Jiangnan Dao and Huainan Dao were the development-oriented areas. Lingnan Dao, Henan Dao, Hedong Dao, Guannei Dao, Shannan Dao were the stable development districts. Longyou Dao, Jiannan Dao, Hebei Dao were the recession type area of tourism development. Chang'an and Luoyang district, Wuyue district were the most two important tourist destinations. The middle reaches of Yangtze river and the Chengdu plain region were the second-grade destinations. Kui-Zhong, Gui-Yong districts were the third important tourist destinations in Tang dynasty. Chenzhou, Shaozhou, Daozhou, Guangzhou and Duanzhou were the major destinations also.There are many international tourists in Tang Dynasty. The official visitors, commercial travelers and the religious tourists are the most important three primitive types. Most of the international tourists not limited to one specific purpose. Political purpose, commercial goals and religious disseminations were always with their travel activities. Envoys and businessman were always together with religious believers. Because of the accessibilities and the reciprocities of political visit, commercial intercourse and religious dissemination, Tang Dynasty and its neighboring countries, as well as countries along the international traffic Lines to be the Tourist generating region and tourism destination. Politics, economic, culture and communication are considered as the main factors that influencing the distribution of chief domestic tourist source regions in Tang dynasty. For those factors, the area along the Yellow River from Chang'an to Luoyang and Bianzhou come into being the first-grade tourist source region, and the district make up of Runzhou, Xuanzhou, Changzhou, Suzhou, Huzhou, Hangzhou, Yuezhou and Yangzhou as the second-grade. Chengdu districts, as well as the drainage area of the middle reaches of Yangtze River which is among Xiangzhou, Tanzhou and Jiangzhou are the third-grade tourist source regions. Chang'an district is the most important tourist source region in Tang dynasty all the while. The tourist source among Xiangzhou, Tanzhou and Jiangzhou converged at the cities along the Yangtze River step by step. The major tourist source regions had a tendency to move to southeast and cluster round the inland areas.The tourist attractions in Tang dynasty were dominated by human tourism resources, and pagoda temple, tourist attractions of mountains, pavilions, platforms, Chambers and towers were the major and most attractive tourist resources in Tang dynasty. There are some rules of the distribution of tourist resources in Tang dynasty, such as focus on the political, economic, cultural, tourism resources and other centers, distribution along the main lines of communication, cluster in the basic economic zone, concentrated in inland areas and so on. Chang'an and Luoyang district, Wuyue district, middle reaches of Yangtze River, Chengdu district and Yongzhou-Guizhou district were the big-five centralized areas of tourism resources in Tang dynasty. The district along the sacrifice line from Chang'an to Yanzhou and the Yangtze River basin are the most important zonal regions of tourism resources in Tang dynasty.The traffic for tourism in the Tang Dynasty is based on several domestic important traffic routes, and the importance of the water way carrier exceeds the land transportation. The people who have a long journey always view trying hard to shorten the land distance as their guidelines.Domestic navigational inland rivers relying mainly on the Changjiang River, east of Tongji Canal and Beijing-Hangzhou Canal, become the main circuit of going on a tour. The post houses, private hotels and a lot of religious temples along the transport lines can offer board and lodging service for travelers, and they also play an important role for tourism reception. Though the influence of the traffic factor drops to some extent, it is still the main factor influencing the tourism activity.
