The objective of the present research is, after describing the role of the folk tale, a major category of folklore, to carry out a comparative study of humorous folk tales in Sri Lanka and China.The basic elements of folk tales and their origin and spread are dealt in chapter 01.In chapter 02, attempt has been done to compare Sri Lankan and Chinese humorous folk narratives which have similar themes and motifs selected folk tales include both instructive and entertaining.Chapter 03 illustrates the many features of some selected stories that evoke only humorous.The observations are given in the conclusion.
