In view of this, this paper uses the method of combining language and literature, cuts separation of the character electronic images of XUANYING YINYI exhaustively for the first time, layout into the word spectrum, and thus got a lot of first-hand information, this has laid a solid foundation for study the character of Seven Temple edition XUANYING YINYI comprehensively and systematicly.The paper combined the masterpieces of literature and excavated documents, by studying the character-using phenomenon of the Seven Temple edition XUANYING YINYI, aims to reveal the development and use of the law of the Chinese characters, to provide information for the History of Chinese characters research, and to see about the actual use of the Japanese ancient manuscripts. The full text is divided into six chapter: sequence on the text, character classification study, character comparative study partA and partB, the features of characters, cause analysis and impact, construe the difficult words and so on.First chapter, provides an overview of the topics of the origin, history and current status, topics of significance, purpose, materials, theory, methods and means of the research topics.Chapter II, character classification study. In accordance with the different nature of the characters in XUANYING YINYI, we divided the characters into variant forms, the same word forms, jiajie(假借)word, the word of the transliteration from foreign words by sound record four categories, the variant forms is the most complex kind in all of the characters. According to the sources of the different variant forms, it can be divided into eleven kinds, such as from the ancient characters, elidings, earmarkatation, miscellaneous, assimilation, alienation, the correct mix, change, class, displacement, Wu Zhou new word etc. We study the variants analogy and comparatively by use the modern pass traditional characters as standard characters, look the component as unit, revealed the character visage of Seven Temple edition XUANYING YINYI comprehensively and objectively.Chapter III, character comparative study contemporarily. We compare and study the characters in XUANYING YINYI to other contemporary materials, discuss the font style shaped in three types of literatures, such as the Seven Temple edition XUANYING YINYI, GanLu word book(《干禄字书》),Dunhuang paper, the inscriptions of Tang monument. Our comparisons focus on the variants. Though comparing the Seven Temple edition XUANYING YINYI to GanLu word book showed that, the source of characters that Seven Temple edition XUANYING YINYI used have multi-way, its orthography adhere to Shuo Wen(《说文》) as the standard, in which a small part of the words slightly different write, the common words and folk characters follow the variant forms of the inscriptions between Han, Wei, Jin, South and North Dynasties. Reflect the written specifications of the Tang Dynasty, is the nature of the XUANYING YINYI of characters. It Showed that much the same of the two characters by comparing between the Seven Temple edition XUANYING YINYI and Dunhuang paper, but the character appearance of the former closer to the era of xuanying's than the the latter.Chapter IV, character comparative study lastedly. We compare XUANYING YINYI and other written materials in different times lastedly to explore the origins of the character, evolutional trajectory and laws. In order to be able to reflect the inheritance relationship between things and their main, we discuss the question following the sequence of YuPian(《玉篇》), ZhuanLiWanXiangMingYi(《篆隸万象名义》),the inscriptions between Han, Wei, Jin, South and North Dynasties, the DaXu edition of ShuoWen(《说文》大徐本),(Note:ShuoWen is the seal character, XUANYING YINYI is the regular script, it is difficult to compare between the two originally because they have a different body and different quality, but from a structural angle rather than body, we can also compare between them.) in order to clearly show the glyph sources and origins of relations. Comparison of the emphasis is still on the variants. In comparison with the Fragmented volume of YuPian, it's variants forms are mainly as elidings, earmarkatation, miscellaneous, alienation etc. In other words, these are main different write; the various types of variants are very rich in the Seven Temple edition XUANYING YINYI, especially there are huge number of different writing and heterogeneous characters. This is mainly because the YuPian is the normative language dictionary in that era, but the Seven Temple edition XUANYING YINYI is the hand note book to explain Buddhist dictionary, the font style is natural rich, varied and all-encompassing. Shaped relationship with ShuoWen, the Seven Temple edition XUANYING YINYI incarnated inheritance and development, such as some became different fonts from standard characters in ShuoWen, some became standard characters from different fonts also in ShuoWen, From this, we can see Chinese characters of standardization is a the dynamic process of development.ChapterV, characters' characteristics, cause and impact. The characteristics of characters in XUANYING YINYI includes reflecting the Tang Dynasty written specification, the character comeing from a variety of ways, XingSheng(形聲字) and HuiYi(会意字)being the main methods to generate the characters, reflecting the component concept, the reduction to character form being the developmental trend of Chinese characters, the class-defined content diversity, inheritance and development, most of the variants being formed by two or more factors effected. The main causes of the XUANYING YINYI includes:the nature of YiYin(意音)character and writing fast, simple and aesthetic needs, hutchison sound by word is always a useful supplement to the ideographic Chinese characters. The characters in XUANYING YINYI have influence on future development of character, such as preserved the actual writing body, pronunciation, meaning for future generations of Chinese characters, and brought forward normalized idea of the Chinese character.
