Usually world historians only focus their attention on the unity since the modern world history and ignore the study of the pre-modern,especially,ancient world history as a whole.On the one hand,the actual facts that ancient times is far beyond the present time and the relevent information is insuffcient make the researchers be in difficulties to understand deeply its unity.On the other hand,our views are so confined that although we believe that there are some relations and communications in remote ages,they can not exert an influence on the world history and lead to the formation of world entirety.In view of the above-men-tioned facts,based on some new achievements at home and abroad and under the guidance of civilization exchange,this dissertation has proved the existance of the unity in the Old world since the Neolithic age.The interrelations and interac-tions among different cultures and civilizations in the old Continent are strength-ened by civilization exchange.It also has a decisive effect on the formation and development of the unity in the old World. The study of the unity about the west Asia and the Old World in the disser-tation consists of two periods which are divided into three stages.The first peri-od is Neolithic age(8000~3500BC)and a far-reaching agriculture revolution ap-pears in west Asia.It is both a revolution of preductivty and a revolution of con-tactivity.They all help to bring about the developments and augmentation of the Neolithic cultures and exchanges.Meanwhile,the exchange between west Asia and its periphery is promoted by the migration of the farmer and the scatter of the agricultural techniques in that times.Archaeological and historied sources show that culture exchange between China in East Asia and West Asia has exist-ed in Neolithic age.It is all these exchanges that make up the embryonic form of the unity in neolithic old world;The first stage of the second period is early bronze age(3500~2000BC).Primitive cities become the centre and the mark of civilization exchange.Civilization exchange inside and outside west Asia is fur-ther improved.Furthermore,the exchange and interactions between agrarian civ-ilization and steppe postoralist are deepened and pastoral world plays an impor-===================...
