A Study Of Dialectal Contact In The North-east Of Jiangxi Province

The north-east of Jiangxi Province is one of the most complicated place of China in dialects. There are three main dialects such as Jiangxi dialect, Wu dialect and Anhui dialect which contact each other. The dialectal islands of Min dialect, Korea dialect and Ma-shan dialect scattered over there. Such dialectal distribution contributed to form the characteristic of the plur-contact and then evoloved into so abundant and complex phenomena of dialectal contact.The dialectal contact is just the fusion evolution in crosswise of Chinese dialects which are of same source. The consequence is producing many apokoinou language elements of contact which are different of the parongms. From the common language elements of cross dialectal distribution we can the see the evolution ways and expressions, such as: planting, imitating, substitution, agglutination, conbination and variation.The rate of common core words shows the contact position and extent. Attrition of charcteristic, replacement of usage, extend or shrink of dialect area are the three main resultsof dialectal contact, and they present moving gradually, compatibility, covergent and developing imbalance. From the results, we can get three conclusions: The Jiangxi dialect continue extending eastward; the dialectal island is declining and trending to form county field dialect.The study of dialectal contact in the north-east of Jiangxi province has more important value of language material and theory significance of typology to learn the present condition and history of Chinese dialects.
