Oroup rk is one of the 16 groups in MiddIe Chinese, which has complexphonetic changes. The study of the phonetic mutations of Group l in modernChinese dia1ects must be a contribution to the study of Chinese dia1ects must be acontribution to the stUdy of Chinese phonetic history and dia1ectology. Takingadvantage ot phonetic materia1s from 25 districts which be1ong to thIee dia1ectgroup-Gaihuan group' Dengzhou group and QingZhou group, this thesis studiesthe phonetic changes of Group th in today's Jiaoliao Manddrine by diachIonicand synchIonic comprisons. Trying to find the developing rules in historica1evo1ution, to ana1yze the characteristics of phonetic changes, to explain thereasons of phonetic changes, we study the evolutions of fina1s of Group l fromMiddle Chinese to today's ]iaoliao Manddrine. The thesis is divided into six parts.I .IntroductionIn this part, the characteristic a-nd geographic distribution of JiaoliaoMandarine are reflying illustrated. According to Mr Xewei's (1985), there are 44dialecta1 districts of Jiaoliao Ma-ndarine in Shandong and Liaonin provinces, thisunion can be divided into thIee dialecta1 groups. The dia1ectal materia1s that 1work on in this thesis are chosen form 25 distIicts(inc1uding7 in Liaonin province,l8 in Shandong province, which respective1y belong to the thIee dia1ecta1groups-name1y Gaihuan group, Dengzhou group and Qingzhou group).II. The evoIutions of Group l in (rm, in Jiaoliao MandarineIn this paIt, the thesis discusses the cases of evolution of Group in andcompares it with the Common Language which are shown in fOrms. Statistically,I account the rates of phonetic evolution in the 25 dia1ecta1 districts and sum upthe characteristics of the evolution of Group ir.III .The reasons and conditions of phonetic evolutionThe phonetic evo1ution of Group th is due to six main reasonst thechange of the initals exert intluence on the change of the t1na1s, the change ofsandi, the bequest of old pronunciations, the evo1ution of dia1ect itselt; theint1Llence ot Common Language, as well as the mutation influences betweendia1ects.IV Evolution in different timesThIough studying the evolutions of different phonetics in Jiao1iaoN1andarine, we find that synchronic changes retlect dynchIonic ones. Forexample,in Da1ian city the final after initia1[l]changed fron[uei]to[ei1 before theinitia1 of "$"." i% ') changed to [l ],the new and old vdriety both exist in Yantaidia1ect, the evolution of [er ]in Qingdao.V .The developement of dialectal phoneticComparing with the phonetic materials in 1960s, we find phonetic to someextent deve1ope in some districts of Gaihuan group today.Vl .ConclusionAs one of the Mandallne, Jiao1iao Mandarine has a lot of characteristics, ithas some simi1arity with the Common Language in some aspects, The sAnildrityand difference a1so exist in dia1ecta1 districts in Jiaoliao .Sorne dia1ecta1specia1ities are used to happen in adjoining districts.Under the idriuence ofDongbei Mandarine, the pronunciations in Gaihuan group are becoming simi1arwith Dongbei dia1ects.Under the influence of the Common Language and thedialects in near districts, two tendencies happen in the phonetic evolutions otJiaoliao M.d.i.,; of which Jiaoliao Mandarine is coming more and moreclosely to the Common Language, the difference between dia1ects isreducing .The evolution of Jiao1iao Mandarine a1so reflects the fact that thephonetic evolution law can be perceived in the dimensions of grounding, timeand geography.
