| In this thesis, the author, from a worldwide perspective, puts careful focus on the national and religion issues, which made great influences on the world safety and stability in the global era.These two issues, mainly concerned with international disputes or regional conflicts in nowadays, are long historical existence and of course are two political issues.In the last century, especially after the cold-world war, the international society has suffered series events and accidents, such as the disintegration of Soviet Union, the Balkan War, the Middle East troubles, and the tribal conflicts in Africa. They all together demonstrate that, the national and religion issues, in some degree, are playing decisive roles in the international relations, and in the process of peace and development, which are still the two topics of the world. In this new century, in the process of globalization, the benefits pursuing and scrambling among different nationalities become fiercer, which inevitably bring to this world kinds of controversies, conflicts, and even wars. The September 11th terrorist accident, the Afghanistan war, the crisis in Chechen, the conflicts between Indian and Pakistan, again demonstrate that, the national controversy has become the very implement to the instability of the world.Standing on the complicatedly developing and turbulent world today, facing to the unceasing regional conflicts brought by national and religion controversies, we have enough reasons to worry about the world peace issues, to think and reconsider the deeply underlying relation between national/religion issues and the world peace. The purpose of these reconsiderations is to give a careful observation on the national/religion issues in the international relations, to settle efficiently these troubles, to seek for the approaches to the regional stability and the world peace, and to improve the development and prosperity of our mankind.This thesis, according to the national theory of Marxism-Leninism, and combining different approaches, such as macro-and-micro-perspectives, historical, authentic, comparative, and cross-subjective approaches, deeply analyses the influences of national/religion issues to the world peace, and contributes some suggestions of the settlement of these issues.Four parts or chapters are included in this thesis.In Chapter I, the author focuses the elementary factors to the process of the world peace, including traditional and non-traditional elements. The author points out that,not only can the national/religion issues, characterized by complexity, abruptness, and the long lasting, gather mass of followers, but also destroy the long efforts for regional safety and national stability. The national splittism, together with religion extremism and terrorism, are known as the three pollutions of world peace.In Chapter II, theories of the nation and national issues, the three nationalism waves in 20th century, and the challenge of globalization in 21st century to the nation/religion issues, are carefully analyzed and discussed. Based on the analyses, the author discusses some hot spots of national issues, often happening in international or regional wide, or even inside some multi-nationalities countries. The author makes a clear observation on their causes, their manifestations, their consequences, and the approaches of the settlement of these issues, to delineate deeply underlying factors and the harmfulness of different kinds of national issues to the world peace.In Chapter III, the author focuses on the mainline of the controversies and conflicts among varied religions, which bring to the world danger. After giving a brief explanation of the concept and survey of religions, the author analyses the history of religion issues, mainly concentrating the religion factors in world politics, and the glaring controversies among religions in nowadays.
