"Political" Philosopher--Althusser

Althusser played a very important role in the history of Marxism during the 20th century. From the very beginning, he has given a severe criticism to the Humanist Marxism, which predominated in French Communist Party as well as the International Communist Program; instead, he claimed. For Marx, and decided to reread Marx. Many concerns Althusser' s theory involved, Ideology was the hard core, and also the most influential theory to modern and later theoretical circle. Accordingly, Althusser himself was named"Ideology expert. "Concerned with Althusser' s Ideology, this paper was divided into three parts. In the first part, the writer will present you the background when Althusser' s theory was put forward, including the direct reason for his becoming known to the theoretical circle and the influence of Western Marxism academic tradition, which paid great attention to Ideology on him. The second part is the body of the paper, introducing different parts of Althusser' s Ideological theory, such as "Ideology and Science,""Ideology and Humanism" and "Ideological State Apparatuses" . Besides the analysis of the Ideology of Althusser, this part also analyzes the relations with Structuralism and Spiritual Analysis. The third part is about the influence of Althusser' s Ideology on the modern world. In this part, the writer analyzes its influence on the French Literature criticism, British cultural study and post-modern cultural criticism.On the basis of the analysis of Althusser' s Ideology, this paper indicated his great contribution to the development of Marxism. Though there are some mistakes and ambiguity in his theory, Althusser is still a Marxist and a "political" philosopher. His Ideology did not vanish with his death. Instead, his theory has had an ever-increasing influence on the modern western theoretical world. And the rereading and analysis of Althusser' s Ideology is significant for us to understand and persist with Marxism.
