Since 1947, the relationship development between India and Middle East has experienced zigzag obstacles and wavering hardships. And it summarized the essence, characteristics and laws. Furthermore, it has forecast the developing prospects on relationships between India and Middle East objectively.This doctoral dissertation divides the relationships between post-independent India and Middle East into five different periods; meanwhile it systematically carries out diplomatic relationship between them. What factors affect Jawaharlal Nehru work out the India' s Middle East policy? What interests of India in the Middle East have dictated India government to follow such a strongly pro-Arab policy? What imply does the India' s Middle East policy? What are the laws, nature and characteristics of the relations between India and the Middle East? What are the basic principles of India' s foreign policies towards the Middle East? These and other questions will be addressed in this paper.Retrospection the historical course of India and Middle East since 1947, it is clear that the Principle Goals of India' s foreign diplomatic strategy is to be the central area of Asia and the global super-power. From Jawaharlal Nehru' s governing, the following governments have similar foreign diplomatic strategic purpose. Concrete contents are as follows: (1) The prime diplomatic purpose is to realize the regional strategic objectives, 'the center of Asia' ; (2) The economic diplomatic purpose is to guarantee oil supply and occupation in the giant Middle East market;(3) The current diplomatic purpose is to strive the Middle East' s support on India in the South Asian affairs; (4) The state security purpose is to pledge the water and land route unblocked for Indian trading with European countries ;(5) Creating peaceful neighboring environment is in favor of India economic development .Diagnosed the post-independent India' s foreign policies towards the Middle East their basic contents and common characteristics includes the following aspects: (1) Pro - Arab and anti-Israeli is the main contents and central characteristics of Indian policies towards the Middle East countries; (2) Non-alignment is the basic principle of Indian in dealing with the Middle East; (3) Defending India sovereignty and territorial integrity, guaranteeing Indian economic development and state security is the standing point of Indian policies towards the Middle East; (4) Playing a active role of super-power is the core of Indian policies towards the Middle East; (5) Strengthening the economic and trading cooperation with Middle East countries is the emphasis on Indian policies towards the Middle East; (6) Maintaining neutral in the internal conflict among Islamic countries in the Middle East countries is the main principle of India; (7) Protesting the external powers interfering with their internal affairs in the Middle East is the chromic viewpoint; (8) Peaceful solutions to the disputes are the concrete principle in relationships between them.Generally speaking, the evolutions of the relationship are characterized by the following: (1) Pro-Arab and anti-Israeli is a main thread in the evolutions of this relationship; (2) Whether launching the nonalignment policy becomes an important criteria in judging their relationship; (3) The developing tendency has made the transition from Idealism to realism come true; (4) The relation 'core' now has changedfrom Egypt in the 1950s and 1960s, Iraq and Iran in the 1970s to the current multi polar; (5) The important economic feature in their relationship is the imbalances between imports and exports; (6) Different attitudes on Pakistan are important developing features of the relationship between them.Analyzing the relationship developing base and its restrictive factors is an important proof of forecasting the prospects of this relationship.
