Research On The Combination Between Poem And Painting Of Wu School

My thesis was concernd with the relationship between poem and painting of Wu school in the Ming dynasty.There were a lot of artists,who were good at poem and painting in the Soochow in the middle of the Ming dynasty.They are Shen Chou,Wen Cheng-ming,T'ang Yin,Tu Ch'iung,Lu Chih,Liu Chueh and so on.These literati not only draw the painting but also write the poem,they like inscribe their own poem on their painting.Because these literati belong to the middle class between official class and citizen class, they were in the intermediate state between elegant culture and custom culture. Writing the poem belongs to the elegant culture,and drawing the painting belongs to the custom culture.So the form of combination between poem and painting can properly express their social status and their culture tasteAnd the combination between poem and painting can find a way out of a difficulty of the function of art and the own exprssion of artist.In the first and the second chapter,my tresis analyse the influence of culture tradition of Soochow and social element to the the combination between poem and painting.And from the third chapter to the fifth chapter,we analyse the combination between poem and painting of some masters such as Shen Chou,Wen Cheng-ming and Tang Yin.In the last chapter we explain the change of social status in the Ming dynasty leads to declination of the combination between poem and painting...
