The present thesis aims to research the Interrogative Pronouns of the Modern Chinese Language from different angles. It is believed that using the "multi-regional" method of the "Theory of Common Core" it is possible to set the interrogative pronouns up by categories through their usage and divide them into frequent and non-frequent interrogative pronouns. Through comparing the interrogative pronouns of Indo-European languages and the Chinese language it is possible to find differences and similarities between the two.The categorization is made from three different angles: the outside form, the inside meaning and the pragmatic value, these being principles of the "Theory of Three Angles".The outside form manifests itself through the visible exterior form of the interrogative pronouns. The outside form also includes the word-formation of the interrogative pronouns (simple and compound words), the form-building (inflection) of the interrogative pronouns, the combination (composing form and attaching form), the duplicate form and the vacillating form of interrogative pronouns. It also uses the comparison method for the interrogative pronouns in the standard Chinese language and the dialects. The inside meaning consists in the invisible interior relations and contents of the interrogative pronouns. This part of the thesis deeply researches into the semantic function and the syntactic function of the interrogative pronouns. The semantic function describes the general usage — the semantic meaning of the interrogative pronouns in a certain situation, and the semantic meaning of their vacillating form. It also includes the syntactic analysis of the interrogative pronouns. The specific usage of the interrogative pronouns is studied to reveal their pragmatic values. Here the diversity of their usage in the non-interogative situation and the way they express their meaning and particularities are analyzed. The research of the non-interrogative usage includes the special semantic meanings and the qualities of the interrogative pronouns under the influence of an external factor or an internal one. The author tries to show the types of semantic meaning such as all-inclusive nature, indefinite nature and illustrative nature of the interrogative pronouns in a non-interrogative situation. The thesis also analyses the conditions concerning the formation of these types.Beside all these, the purpose of the present thesis is to analyze the special usage of the interrogative sentence, demonstrating how in different contexts it differs from the actual semantic meanings. Some parts of the analysis are made mainly from a psychological and social point of view. This thesis has been the first to make a systematic study of the interrogative pronouns from the theoretic point of view.
