Xinjing is the region the multi-ethnic groups inhabit. The implementation of the western china development strategy has taken the various ethnic cultures in Xinjing into the global cultural interaction, the tension between modernization and the various ethnic cultures in the course of the global cultural interaction makes the problem concerning the transformation of the ethnic traditional culture and the cultural identity gradually stands out, so the writer comprehensively and three dimensionally studies the historic change and the present situations of the various ethnic culture in Xinjing on the basis of data of the document and field survey by the angle of views of the combination biachronic with synchronic and emic with etic, and the theory and method of history, culture anthropology and sociology. The author brings forward the accomplishment of ethnic traditional cultural transformations is the cultural choice which accords with not only the trend of the times but also the desire of each ethnic people in Xinjing, for this choice need not only the communist party and local government to guide and spur but also each ethnic people themselves continuously overcome the self isolation cultural mentality and the historically lazy nature. In practice, Xinjiang must do their best to solve three main problems: the relations of ethnic culture and economic progress; the protection and exploitation of ethnic traditional culture, inheritance and development of ethnic culture as well. Our aim is to make the ethnic culture in Xinjing become more vigorous and competent. At the meanwhile, the author suggests local government should pay more attentions to the effect of cultural identity in aspect of strengthening the cohesion of Chinese nationality. This is not only the basic historic experiences of Chinese history of unitary multinational country but also the requirement of development of the global era. We must precaution cultural infiltration of the western hostile forces, defend the cultural security of our country .we should take strengthening the consciousness thatthe citizen identity is the first identity as axes center so as to construct the framework of identity of each ethnic member that culture is various and state and policy is integrative, breed the new element to raise Chinese cohesion.
